The ship has sailed. ECNL could have played the hero but instead wanted to be petty. They have now created a situation of bad blood with the clubs they’ve snubbed. After the next two years, if all works out as you believe and players migrate to ECNL, these clubs will have lost players they have developed over the course of years. ECNL will have attempted to do tremendous harm to these clubs. This new league will likely not go down without a fight. And for all the ECNL crowing in here if there is no fall season, while it will suck, there will be zero sympathy for ECNL. And then we will see who is to big to fail without Spring AND Fall showcases. |
No they got rejected. The only way Arlington gets in is over McLeans dead body(ie Mclean goes under). |

GAL exist because of parent hubris and club owners' desire to feel relevant. Everyone knows we don't need two elite national leagues. The reason GDA ended is because ECNL was the better national league and GDA demanded too much.
Parents need to lose the ego. Kids need to try out for ECNL. The best ex-DA players will make an ECNL club. The elevl of play will rise in ECNL. As players unable to make an ECNL roster join other teams, the level of play in region and local leagues will rise. Please accept that GAL will lose relevance after this season. Get a head start. |
I have to agree these businesses (I mean academies) continue to tell you what’s convenient for them to make $$$, HS soccer bad then HS soccer good, Sub rules good for development and coaching, sub rules need to be changed, DA best for college exposure, any league now good for college exposure, college coaches care about the league you play in, now college coaches only care that you have a quality team, National travel a must for showcase exposure, to now you don’t need to do that as it’s unnecessary and should be avoided. You see the pattern? Continued shift in messaging and spin to suit own agenda. |

I'm not posting this because I'm an FCV proponent. I couldn't care less about the club. I'm telling you that its not over yet. As for ECNL being a "hero", I think you lack historical knowledge to offer an opinion of substance. As most do on this forum. |
What exactly isn’t over? FCV getting into ECNL now? Ok, is that being shared with families before they leave? If players leave this year and ECNL let’s FCV in next year the damage has already been done. |
I thought everyone was staying? Guess not, huh |
Of course everyone's staying, wink wink. |
Oh, I’m sure Subs will leave FCV. |
| ^^^Do Bobby and Christian know yet who is defecting? Rumor has it the ex-DA, soon to be GAL players have all gotten their offers. |
Offers from who? |
| From FCV. |

My opinion
02/03: Composite age group. They could/may/probably will stay because they have already committed. Why leave..unless to join Bryc /Mclean and go for a national title or something. I don't know 04: Will stay because they are in the middle of their recruiting and Bobby holds the keys. They will not abandon that. 05: Hummm. Don't know 06 and below: Bail out. If not now, next year. |

All I keep hearing from the ECNL boosters is that the GA is no good and will fail. Even if that is true, why is it so important for you to tell the rest of us that? Does it make you feel better, because your daughter plays in the "only" top level league? That's pretty sad.
GA boosters are saying a league that may have 1/5 of the country's top 100 clubs by the end of the day matters. Seems reasonable that a college wouldn't ignore roughly 20% of the girls they might like to recruit. Seems reasonable that their daughter might enjoy playing in the league and have good competition, and possibly even get some exposure to college coaches - given that she plays for one of those top 100 clubs and will be playing against plenty of others in league games, showcases, and other tournaments. One group is excited about a new opportunity for their kid. The other group is spending a lot of time telling others how worthless that opportunity is. I'm pretty comfortable with the group I'm in. You may be as well. Good for you. |
