Is it unethical/immoral/unChristian to leave my relationship?

You NEVER THOUGHT about BPD? How is this possible, OP?

Fix your relationship with your kids ASAP. Leave your wife. You will figure out the rest when you have clarity.

I’ve spent three years wrapped up in my own illness and focusing on my job.

BPD generally is used for borderline personality disorder. But if your wife has 'manic episodes', she's possibly bipolar as well. Heck, esp. if her sister and mom have it too.

She's not "manic" like off and on - it's like all the time. Always literally pouring ideas and plans out. She'll spend huge amounts of time researching things and will implement a small percentage of what she learns. Flitting from idea to idea.

Everyone she knows thinks she's brilliant - she gives advice constantly on the phone.

Today she was gatekeeping my email address I use to communicate with the ex - she said it would give me anxiety and be a distraction if I was to read it. I have to go through her to get access. And yes, she's trying to protect me, because I //am// frail and my emotions mess with my health...but somehow I have simply ceded authority over my life and feel powerless to change. Especially now.

Whatever it is, she's a terrible partner and you need to set a plan to leave her.
