The Last Skywalker— with Spoilers

Thankfully George Lucas sold to Disney or we would have had those monstrosities duplicated in 7-9. Did you see the interview where Lucas was going to go full on Midiclorian in 7-9, and add another kind of magic force virus? What a mess that would have been.

And the Disney ones suck even worse. Hence why every movie since 2015 has been losing money.

Say what you want, the prequels are canon and come from Lucas. They aren’t lazy rehashes like the Disney movies that just lazily repeat the original trilogy with awful badly written characters no one will care about in 3 years.

Losing money??! Are you delusional?

First of all, Lucas said the Disney ones are canon. So you need to get over that. Second, they’ve all made a TON of money.

Force Awakens: budget $260-300M; box office $2B
Last Jedi: budget $200-300M; box office $1.3B
Rise of Skywalker: budget $275M; box office $453 (and it’s been out for a week)

I disagree that the movies are lazy. I love the new characters. The Skywalker story wasn’t finished because Palpatine wasn’t dead yet, which is why the themes had to be revisited.

There are 3 more Star Wars movies coming out that Lucasfilms has said will be very different, so you’ll get your different themes then.

According to this article, many of the “people” criticizing the new movies on social media are Russian trolls.

I think PP might be one, considering he/she didn’t even know they‘ve been making money.

Agree prequels st least told an interesting story and expanded the universe.

The way the Disney movies rehashed the original trilogy was crazy distracting.

I think a story about rebuilding republic in a lawless galaxy, finding and training new Jedi would have been a better arc, and perhaps showing how balance in the force was achieved (the premise in the whole Skywalker arc — which I really fail to see unless it’s the 1000 Sith in one meets 1000 Jedi in one, which is then unbalanced by Palestine’s death). Something more than rehashing with better visuals.

Let me introduce you to inflation:

New Hope: $3B
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films

And Force Awakens success was largely built on the original trilogy, as you can see with declining sales as Disney trilogy continues on.

Palpatine wasn’t dead??? That was completely fabricated for the 3rd movie, there was no reason to revisit it other than have a big bad that wasn’t a teenage slacker.

Reading is fundamental.

The contention was they have LOST money.

Why are you surprised Palpatine wasn’t dead? He was present throughout the prequels as well. It’s entirely plausible he would’ve been orchestrating things from behind the scenes.

Moreover, it’s been established that all Sith apprentices need Sith masters.

Therefore it would’ve made no sense for Kylo Ren to have existed on his own.

Rule of 2.

No one actually said balance had been fully restored. There are 3 more Star Wars movies coming out that will move on from the Skywalker/Palpatine struggle. You can decide if you hate those new themes then.

George Lucas said several times that Palpy was dead in RoJ. Dead, dead, dead. 100% dead. He was resurrected without an explanation to save Disney's arse. All the voice ghosts were done to save SW Disney reputation. The ONLY reason people are liking this RoS better is because true and tried villain that Lucas wrote came back.

Kathleen Kennedy said it had always been the plan to bring him back.

You don’t think it’s plausible that a powerful Sith Lord could figure out how to bring himself back in some form? It’s not unprecedented. See: Voldemort.

George Lucas degraded the series with the prequels, and would have completely ruined it with all the midi-clorian and Whills nonsense. He should be grateful Disney saved him from himself.

What’s the hatred towards midiclorians? It’s a minor plot point that just explains how you can measure force sensitivity. I don’t get the vitriol. The prequels sucked because of crappy dialogue and crappy acting. They had cool lightsaber duels though — especially by Yoda.

Go read what Lucas had planned for 7-9. They weren’t going to be a minor plot point, they were going to basically render episodes 1-6 pointless.

You are weirdly ocd about proving that Kennedy did something right. The truth is they planned it to be a rehash because they thought that is what fans wanted. Johnson messed up their plans. If Lucas sucks so much, why did they bring him back to re-shoots and rewrite the script for RoS? They stole the story from the Last Airbender, and then could not get it right as the cartoon did! Kennedy is basically fired, it is known in the industry, but because of her huge contact they are waiting for it to end. RoS was a total attempt to pacify the rabid fans, and everyone knows it. Favreau is likely taking over anything that comes after this, for movies. You like you movies, nobody cares you like them, it is fine to like them. However, you defense of Kennedy is insane. She has insulted the fans, she has betrayed Lucas who allegedly was her friend. Plus making it the closure of all the movies? Last minute pathetic attempt to win the fans they lost back. It was never about the Skywalkers, this was clear. This was not to be the closure of Skywalkers, until they effed up. You plan a trilogy, you know? Aragorn becomes the King, Frodo saves the world. You don't start writing the trilogy in the last movie!

I am guessing you did not watch the Clone Wars?
