Marty was an extrovert and genuinely kind to people.

RBG is a stand-offish snob IRL who has no use for people who don’t have the right pedigree or don’t advance her agenda.

The irony is that she would never achieved the success she did without Marty working behind the scenes to advance her career.

Their daughter was one of my professors in law school. She was tough as nails, totally no nonsense, and once told my ex he made a mistake breaking up with me. (We got back together, then broke up again.)

Love this story, thank you for sharing. Agree with RBG, but she warms up after a while. Bill Clinton is the epitome of charisma and charm in person. Haven't met HRL yet, but glad to hear she is a decent human. The politicians and SCJs I have met know how to work a room, for sure.

This is so disappointing to hear.

Elena Kagan, on the other hand, can be very engaging. She has a very dry wit and can be funny and self-deprecating. Not surprised that she was so popular with a bunch of strong personalities at Harvard Law.

I think people forget just how old Ginsburg is, and that she was raised in a very socially (but not politically) conservative manner. She has no skill at making small talk whatsoever with people who don’t have a similar background or education. She gets along with right-wing Supreme Court justices because they all attended the right schools, made Law Review, and clerked for the right appellate judges.

OP of the Ginsburg meet here. I met her about 25 years ago at a wedding of a family member. We were all attorneys, all Ivy League, all Jewish New Yorkers or Washingtonians. She simply has no personal warmth.

Beck: Sweet, warm, friendly.

Katie Couric: Miniature, total professional, seems nice … hope it's genuine!

OMG how did I forget this one? I also met Beck. We were at a resort this summer and he was there with his whole touring group. Super quiet and reserved. My sons were looking for tadpoles and he was just chilling by some rocks in the water and he said as he swam away "hey, there are a ton over here!" I'm not even sure he knew we recognized him.

did he try to bring you over to the dark side...aka Scientology

Kanye: short, introverted/quiet, seemed vaguely uncomfortable. This was back in 2005 when he was first becoming famous.

I knew Julianne Moore (Julie Smith) growing up. Just a total sweetheart but smart as a whip. Deserves every bit of success that has come her way.

Other PP here. Same here. It is not the background, it is just her way. She is perfectly nice, just takes a while to warm up. I could see her not being interested if you weren't on the same page as her, so to speak.

What I don't understand is so nothing nobodies from nowhere (ie: not RBG) who are snobby or overly "introverted" (or whatever we are calling it - aloof, I suppose). Give me a break, we know the truth, take it down a few notches, you look silly.

HA! Dh and I actually talked about that when we realized it was him. Super chill and kind to kids. No religious conversion apparent.

Padma Lakshmi at an event. She wasn’t all that nice when the cameras weren’t on her.
