PP - In what context did you meet Hillary? I do not want to relive 2016 but I always find it interesting that her reputation (media wise) could not be more different than reality.
In my experience, Hillary could not be more warm, kind, or funny in person. She is completely different than her public persona. She tells jokes and does have a great cackle, appreciates a quick wit and remembers birthdays, hard days, etc. I always felt sad that more people didn't get to know/see that side of her - I guess its personal for a reason. |
Their daughter was one of my professors in law school. She was tough as nails, totally no nonsense, and once told my ex he made a mistake breaking up with me. (We got back together, then broke up again.) |
Ive met her a number of times at weddings, etc. She's close with some of my family friends. I have nothing against her, and I have seen her laugh, but she just seems very ... unpleasant, somehow. Others who know her disagree with me, I know. |
I second this one. We saw him when he was out to dinner with his wife. My son, who is a huge fan, didn't want to interrupt their dinner but he must have caught TJ's eye a few times too many because he came over and said hello to him as they were heading out. Made my son's life. He was very sweet to him and gave him an autograph. |
| Meghan Markle, about two years before her engagement was announced. We have a friend in common and I chatted with her a party. She was very nice, but struck me as a bit of a social climber. It worked, so good on her! |
That's the way it is for most marriages except it's women who work begins the scenes and they are never acknowledged but no one seems to find that ironic. |
Love this. |

I've met a few, but a couple of the closer encounters:
Beck: Sweet, warm, friendly. Katie Couric: Miniature, total professional, seems nice … hope it's genuine! |
I love this |
OMG how did I forget this one? I also met Beck. We were at a resort this summer and he was there with his whole touring group. Super quiet and reserved. My sons were looking for tadpoles and he was just chilling by some rocks in the water and he said as he swam away "hey, there are a ton over here!" I'm not even sure he knew we recognized him. |
Most of the Caps are super nice and go out of their way for people. One place I worked I ended up essentially having the heard Ovechkin, Backstrom, and a couple other who are no longer in DC around for a day. They were all really nice, laid-back people who made it a point to thank us. Former goalie Jose Theodore was just the sweetest guy. Former Cap and now TV guy Alan May once spotted a bunch of us at a bar wearing Caps gear and decided to join our table. Hilarious, foul-mouthed, and full of stories. For whatever reason, my path kept crossing with Justin Williams for a while and he always seemed so normal. Another job ended up with me having lunch with DC United's Ben Olsen. Also very grounded. Once ended up in line at Thrasher's in Rehoboth with Dave Grohl and his kids. He's a goof, and very accommodating of everyone being like "OMG, Dave Grohl!" while trying to get his kids some fries on vacation. Michael Jordon......total prick. Unless you like hookers and blow, in which case you probably think he's awesome. Jayson Werth, when he's not driving 120 mph on Georgetown Pike is a calm family guy who takes his kids to little league practice and Caps game. He enjoys talking organic farming, which I find endearing. But he has a case of resting I-will-rip-your-face-off face, so he's kind of intimidating. Used to spot former Nats Tyler Clippard and Drew Storen riding their bikes around Navy Yard and Capitol Hill and going to the local places. Normal guys. |
So glad to hear this. These people get it. In love with Dennis Leary here - I think it is his no nonsense sense of humor and "roughness". I think a lot of normal, every day people can learn (if they wanted to - and if they wanted to get ahead) from this kind of behavior. If famous people can be humble and gracious, then little miss nobody should be able to do it, too! Now this is in my head (A-hole song): it pertains to too many people.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrgpZ0fUixs |
| Emily Osment, teen star. Very sweet. |
Not Ellen and I know this isn't as interesting but I had a friend who worked on Rosie O'Donnell's show as an intern back in the day (when she was called the Queen of Nice, ha!) Rosie was SO NASTY. One of my friend's jobs was to hand her stuff people had brought to get signed - she never acknowledged my friend, who was literally standing by her shoulder handing her things, much less said thank you. She complained about the people who came to see the show, etc. |
What'd they do to his car? |
