When DD (now in her early 20's) was 3 or 4, we were sitting across from him on the subway in NYC. He played peekaboo with DD when the train got stuck to keep her amused. He may be a rock star, but in that moment, he was just a dad helping out another parent.

I met David Suzuki and Glenn Close.

Both were lovely and happy to chat for a bit.

LeVar Burton at a conference where he was signing copies of his children’s book. He’s amazing and a sweetheart.

Nicholas Brendan (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is a sloppy, sloppy drunk. Hopefully he’s in recovery now. Painful to watch.

Worked in Nashville during college and served coffee to lots of musicians. Then Nicole Kidman started to become a regular. I knew she was with Keith Urban before they were official. They’re both the nicest.

Angelina Jolie, when she was a single mom to Maddox. Very quiet, happy to spend a night in watching movies with her son.

Lyle Lovett looks at you like he actually cares what you have to say.

In F-list celebrities, I spent an evening with the cast of MST3K, who were hilarious and kind. It’s a standout moment in my relationship with DH. (And now I’ve outed myself to any of my friends who read this board. )

Tyra Banks - I almost didn’t recognize her. We were both in line for Garrett’s popcorn in frigid temps in Chicago. She was in sweats with no make up and was really approachable, which I didn’t expect.

Vince Vaughn - amazingly nice. He chatted with me like he had no place else to be.

Siskel and Ebert (met them separately) - Siskel was an aloof weird guy. Ebert a total gentleman

David Gregory- multiple nannies to wrangle kids even when parents were home. Fun and gregarious when drunk. Tightly wound otherwise.

Pete Williams- great piano player, has classy, old school, largely gay parties.

I've also met them both (briefly) and agree.

I'm curious about Ellen. She seems so nice and down to earth, I loved the book she wrote 20 years ago, but then you hear rumors that's she's not so nice behind closed doors. I can't help but wonder if that's true or if it's some bitter wannabe starting those rumors.

Chris Noth(Mr. Big on SATC), many years ago. He walked into a coffee shop in LA while we were visiting and our group of 5 women promptly lost our minds and started shrieking. He was very nice and let us take pictures with him.

Is he funny in real life

I met Clinton during his first term when I was in middle school. Very lighthearted, funny, and down to Earth.

Stephen Colbert was very warm and sincere.

Jon Stewart was very funny and very, very smart.

Colin Powell seemed very humble if that makes any sense. Considering all of his accolades, I felt like he could've been cold, but he was very ingratiating.

Outkast- It was very odd meeting them. They just seemed so...different.

A lot.

My cousin is a celeb who was married to another celeb.

Biggest let down for me was meeting Julia Roberts. I got to visit while my cousin was filming a movie with her and she was a total b!tch. She was rude to every person she interacted with.

Renee Zellweger was shockingly nice and very down-to-earth when I met her. I was standing off to the side at an event and she just walked right up to me and said something like "I'm invading your spot for a moment." She actually introduced herself, which I found very funny, and remembered my name when we passed by each other later that evening. She also never once asked "who are you here with?" or "what do you do here?" which is something you can hear a lot at those type of events. We just chatted about normal, mundane things. I remember her saying "it's all a bit much at times" and how she'd rather be at home.
