If you read through this thread you will find videos and pictures of what the area looks like. It's very obvious where there is an open window. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2678017-familys-statement-on-toddlers-cruise-death/page/11/?tab=comments#comment-57943194
and in this video you can see the windows (25 second mark) https://youtu.be/F5e6b2VOdys |
| Grandpas fault. If they get money they better donate it to a worthy cause. |
Yes, there is video of this incident that the cruise ship has. It is mentioned in the other thread about this situation. The family was offered to watch the video, but they declined. |
| Poor baby girl. |
|
The family should think themselves lucky that RC isn’t suing them for lost reputation and income due to this 100% reckless and stupid event that interrupted and soured so many vacations.
And the PP who thinks that a child can “fall out” of a 5 foot high window is an idiot. |
| I can't believe there's a thread just on the parents appearance on the today show. You think the other thread would be sufficient. |
I’d rather RC just give a bunch of terminal kids an awesome paid vacation. |
| Maybe the lawyer is testing the reaction and trying to think some way some how it’s someone else’s fault. I think pay to shut them up. |
| Every Sunday for 12 years 3000 people have gotten on that ship and yet not fallen out a window yet |
Exactly. This is a “but for” situation. This would never have happened but for the grandpa. And deep down the family knows it. |
|
Does grandpa have dementia?
So sad. |
| Does anyone think the grandpa did it on purpose? |
Absolutely not. He made a tragic miscalculation. |
It’s about the lawsuit. I can’t believe someone commented on a thread without reading it. |
I can't blame them for not watching the video but, at the same time, they are not really informed as to what actually happened without watching the video. Grandpa was in shock, appeared to have no idea that the window was open and probably even he is not sure exactly what happened or why he picked that window of all windows.... My guess is the baby noticed that the window was open and pointed at it "pick me up Gampa". Grandpa was paying attention to the baby, he lifted her up and, in his mind, he expected the window to be closed. There may be some sort of attention/awareness issue with him. It could be that he overestimated the quickness of his own reflexes. I do not think it was intentional on his part. The man seemed to have a genuine and affectionate relationship with his granddaughter. It was a horrible, tragic mistake. |
