This lawsuit isn’t going to “devastate” anyone’s livelihood. Companies get sued all.the.time. They will settle for this to go away for a small amount of their operating budget and move on. I don’t see the cruise industry going bust because of this. To call this family “evil” when they aren’t operating from a sensible objective place right now because they’re reeling with grief is pretty low. They didn’t set out to lose their child just to sue the cruise line. *That* would be evil.

Exactly. If the family needs someone to blame then the blame stops with Grandpa. That little girl would be here but for his stupid act.

I’m not the PP, but negligence is a crime. It was the grandfather’s negligence that killed this child.

Can someone clarify if he is bio grandfather or step-grandfather? I’m not dissing blended families. My own family is blended and one of my step-grandfathers was the best man I’ve ever known. But I notice Cruise Ship Grandpa has a different name from mom’s maiden name. There were three sets of grandparents listed. One set shared mom’s maiden name.

These parents are clearly heartbroken but I think that they are misdirecting their anger towards RC.

This. I feel for these people but, at the end of the day, the negligent party was not RC. They should not get money for a tragic mistake made by their family member nor should RC try to "fix" something on the ship to prevent this from happening again. There is nothing to fix.
