That firecracker stuff is scary. People could have been seriously injured.
I haven't seen any media about except a Popville story. Why isn't this reported on? |
Meant to say Twitter. I am not a troll. I am genuinely curious why there was no reporting on this. |
Wrong thread. This is about attacks not fireworks. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/812175.page |
This is unadulterated, hateful racism. |
Says you. If you're scared of non-whites then avoid them. Sounds like common sense to me. |
DP- I mean... sure... but it’s not inaccurate. When I see “certain” kids, I get far away as quickly as possible. I don’t rely on my white privilege to keep me safe. I’m busy and don’t have time for all of that. |
Substitute "black" for "white" each time it appears anywhere in your reply or the original statement and see how it feels then. It is not "common sense" that decent people of any hue should flee marauding bands of miscreants. Only a racist could posit a world where skin color determines who gets peacefully to go about their affairs in a public place. Wasn't the right of people to be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin, what people marched, and demonstrated, and suffered and died for? |
If I'm sitting in a Metro car quietly reading and when the doors open all the sudden a bunch of hyperactive teenagers come on making all kinds of noise I move to another car. If I'm sitting in a Metro car quietly reading and when the doors open all the sudden a bunch of drunken hockey fans come on making all kinds of noise I move to another car. If I'm sitting in a Metro car quietly reading and when the doors open all the sudden a bunch of riled up protestors come on making all kinds of noise I move to another car. I consider myself a pretty decent person and my common sense doesn't care about age or gender or race or sexuality or political ideology when it comes to disturbances. If the opportunity is there for me to get away from the nonsense I have no problem exercising my freedom of choice and finding a more peaceful place to go about my affairs. |
| If thugs are acting out on Metro, Tase then and cuff them. |
Some of these wilding “youth” on Metro need to be caged -ie, put in a cell. |
DP here. I can't believe I am reading some of the stuff written on this thread. Nobody who is minding their own business quietly riding a car on metro should have to tolerate being assaulted by anybody. You are welcome to get up and move if people enter a car in which you are sitting if you don't feel safe. No problem. Sometimes those entering a metro car don't appear to be threatening until the train starts moving - then it is too late. Are you saying that ANYTIME a group of kids of color enter a car, all white people should evacuate? Because that is the way it is coming across. |
All the white people who have anxieties about non-white people, yes. Why feign tolerance? Why fake acceptance? Why pretend to be impartial? If you’ve got biases and prejudices against non-white people and primarily see them as thugs and threats and criminals and culprits then why sit there stressed out on the brink of a panic attack by there mere presence just to appear accepting of others. No. You’d much prefer to get away from them and I’m sure non-whites would much prefer that prejudiced people just get away too rather than sit there frowning at them for being black or brown. Not every white person has such anxieties or holds such antipathy for non-whites so I’m not advocating that all whites get up and go to another Metro car just the ones who have a problem with people of color. |
| ^ great idea. Ya know, since it’s really ALL white people you are talking- why don’t we just make separate cars for black people. That seems reasonable. |
Funny but no. Jim Crow is dead (good riddance) and nobody is raising forced segregation from the dead. Not happening. However, self-segregation is still very much alive and very much an individual's right. So if you don't like non-whites and you don't feel comfortable when several of them or even one of them comes and stands near you while waiting for a train then you certainly have the right to move away to the other end of the platform. And if you don't like none-whites and you don't feel comfortable when several of them or even one of them comes and sits near you while you're on the train then you certainly have the right to get up and move away to the other end of the car or if it will make you feel better you can change cars entirely. That is not only reasonable but constitutional. |
Great idea. Maybe all the people who are concerned about non whites should just move to areas without them at all. Oh wait, no need. That’s what great schools ratings are for! |
