I drive slower when you beep your horn.

I drive slower after you arrogantly and obnoxiously beep your horn at me.

I drive the speed limit and come to a full stop at stop signs.

I do not care that you are in a rush and riding my tail.

I do let others walk completely across the street before I enter the crosswalk.

When you lean on your horn, I drive EVEN SLOWER.

Rant over.

I hate you

Drive with some sense and you won’t have to. -OP

Stop raging on the road, OP, and we won’t hate you.

I hope OP pulls a muscle patting herself on the back.

You can be a safe driver without being a sactimonious prick.

i won't camp in the left lane if there are two lanes, i won't drive under the speed limit, but Like the op. flashing your high beams, honking your horn won't make me drive faster.

traffic sucks around here for every one, and just because you feel special and didn't not plan you day properly, you don't have the right to be an asshole and drive like and idiot.

Honestly, if everyone just drove the speed limit, we all would get to our destinations in a reasonable time.

If more people took public transportation, walked, or biked we’d be in a much better place.

But, we are Very Important and need to drive everywhere.

if public transportation was clean reliable cost effective more people would.
if it was safer to bike more people would.

for my job i have to be in early and public transpo is not an option. and if it was. my 30 minute commute becomes an hour, and the costs associating with public transportation in one month is the equivalent of one months lease payment on an econo bucket car. so since i need a car any how to get to the metro stop and pay for parking. why pay double.

Also, as a thought, do not ignore people signalling you with honking. Sometimes it is because they are rushing, but sometimes it is to alert you of danger, a flat tire, or other reasons.

Lastly, it's self absorbed to make the flow of traffic all about you. But, that is living in this area. Selfishness if pretty typical of drivers here.

Safe driving OP.

THIS IS A TROLL

Police would never say anything even remotely close to this.

Carry on.

I don't think that PP is a troll. Cops do pull over slow drivers who impede traffic.

That is the left lane of an interstate highway. Not a city street.

And thank you, OP. Too many people around here think they are the most important person in the universe, and making up time because they didn't plan their day well, gives them the right to endanger others.

doesn't matter. If a driver is holding up traffic by driving too slowly, they'd get cited.

In Va you have to be deliberately impeding the flow of traffic to get such a ticket. I doubt such a ticket to someone driving 20MPH in a 25MPH would ever hold up in court (how would you even prove it? Radar gun? Aren't those considered not that accurate, which is why people don't get tickets for going 5MPH OVER the speed limit?) And I doubt that police would give them.

In the locality where I live, where police lack the resources to do adequate enforcement against speeders, red light runners, people making illegal turns, etc, etc, if the police were to spend their time giving tickets to people driving 20MPH in a 25MPH zone, I would think it would be a scandal.

Just as an FYI, the reason law enforcement pulls over people who are driving under the speed limit is not because they are slow, it’s one of the most common forms of impaired driving. Drunk or high drivers mostly drive under the speed limit, so when cops see very slow, over deliberate drivers, they may follow them.

Fine. But people regularly oppose dedicated bus lanes, bike lanes, etc "because you will slow me down".

So you are saying if I go slow a cop will follow me, and see the crazy stuff other drivers do, like reckless u-turns, failures to yield, making turns from the wrong lanes, etc?

What's not to like?

Fascinating. It’s easy to see OP as an angry drunk. Maybe that’s also why she’s getting honked and driving slow.

If we are on the highway I will try to get out of your way but city streets are not so roomy.

If you are really worried about this, letting the person pass by pulling over completely would keep you most safe.

If there is room wherever I am to pull over, I will. I try to be courteous to the point that my husband complains while I drive. But a lot of the time, there isn't room. And a lot of the time, I just do not have the patience to pull over for someone who is being a jerk. I am not driving "slow" and I have places to be, too. Calm down and our routes will diverge eventually.

The right lane is the new left lane on the highway. I'm amazed at how many people are too lazy to get back over once they have passed someone. It takes close to no effort!

I’m a Maryland driver.

I always go exactly 11 miles over the speed limit. If you are ahead of me and not doing that, I will honk at you and pass you, even if it’s not legal.
I most certainly do NOT come to a complete stops at stop signs. If you are ahead of me and you do, I will honk at you.
I will honk at you if you slow down at a yellow light.
I will honk at you if you are not already on the gas when the perpendicular street’s light is yellow.
I do not use my turn signal because that gives you a chance to drive faster so I can’t get ahead of you. I will cut you off instead, and guess what, I’ll honk at you. If YOU have the audacity to honk sat ME, I will give you the finger.
If you cut ME off, I will tailgate you and give you the finger the whole way.
If I’m in the left lane on 495 westbound and change my mind and decide to merge onto 270 instead, that’s your problem.

OP must be from Virginia.

Since I am a law abiding driver, why would I not be happy to be followed by a cop, who just might deter some of the illegal behavior of other drivers?

OP - This is what you should do instead of passive aggressively contributing to traffic.

Pull over.

I drive over the speed limit typically, but inevitably there are people who want to drive faster. If that is the case, I let them pass me, ESPECIALLY if there is no passing lane or we will be "stuck" like that for awhile.

It is polite. It doesn't contribute to road rage. It lets people who want to go faster go on their merry way.

Another comment is that people may be honking if you are in the left lane and driving as you described. The left lane should ONLY be used for passing and, if necessary, for people who are driving the fastest.
