A Million Little Things

I need something like this (friendships, mystery, drama, themes include stuff for people 35 and above), but with better dialogue and plot.

I've already watched Friends from College.

Any suggestions?

Supposedly we were to learn the backstory tonight but I just watched the episode and still have no idea what is going on. Anyone else?

They tried to do a This is Us fill in the blanks with never before revealed type scenes that explain what lead up to "the incident", but really the episode told us nothing interesting and they did it in a painfully boring way. It seemed like cutting room footage from the pilot.
Still can't wrap my head around how no one in the gang remotely suspects that Eddie is the baby's father. These two lied, snuck around, etc., yet everyone just takes their word on the paternity from the cheaters. A writer on this show is pushing the neglected by an overworked spouse angle because we are supposed to sympathize with love starved, lonely Delilah, unfulfilled, tortured artist Eddie and they clearly hate Katherine, who got zero sympathy until Eddie cheated with Delilah. Had he cheated with some unknown woman they probably would have shrugged and said she deserved it for not being around much.

Do we know what was in the pharmacy bag?

If that was the build up, we have zero believability that Jon would jump. And less than zero that Rome was suicidal.

IT was the battery for the smoke alarm.

Wasn't the smoke alarm central to Jack's death last season? hmmm

I am still trying to figure out how long it took the girl with cancer to finish the 5k and how long they left the course open. Because it was full on night at the end and the crew was still waiting around. So many question..

I don’t know why I’m still watching this show. Once they reveal why he jumped I’m done. I have zero sympathy for Delilah and don’t find her character even a little bit likeable. The nerve to go to Kathryn for help...ugh

I'm trying to hang in there with this show for reasons I can't really explain but it's definitely becoming more and more difficult. Nothing was cleared up for me in the most recent episode and the cliffhangers are far more annoying than exciting.

Is there anywhere to watch from the beginning? I see that you have to pay for the back episodes on demand.

I loved Gary in pysch, and Maggie in Kings, Kathryn in BSG, so watch for them.

The bald caps they wear with chemo — omg how is there not something more believable — like cone heads.

“I don’t need to stretch. I’m seven” — that kid should be doing some kind of commercials.

Has anyone figured out why D has french accent when her dad is so... all-American.

I just binged the whole season so far on Hulu.

I must be lacking the sophisticated cynicism gene—**hangs head in mild shame**— but I’m loving this show. I love all the characters, except Ashley, who I don’t mind. Regina is gorgeous. I would watch just for her hair and head scarves. She and Rome are adorable. I love Maggie. Her apartment is fabulous with the brick and green moulding and art. I find Delilah charismatic. Her skin glows, she has a great sense of humor, and I’m fascinated by the ends of her hair. I’m also drawn to Katherine. Her understated sense of duty to work and family and longing for more time with her son makes me root for her. She plays it low key but her face is so expressive. The sound track for the whole show has been great, with the exception of Eddie’s “original” song, which was surprisingly meh.

I guess it’s the aesthetics that have really drawn me in. It’s the middle of a dreary DC winter, and I crave having something pretty to watch. The way all the characters behave better than humans can normally be expected to behave, with humor, forgiveness, etc., is so pervasive in the show that I have no expectation of realism. I’m happy to give in to the fantasy of it.

As the OP of this thread, I thank you for the laugh!! I myself have stopped watching. I have a really low bar for TV (especially in the winter when my brain is so cold-addled) but I just can't with this show anymore. Someone wake me when they tell us what Rutledge stands for and who Barbara Morgan really is. But PP, I love love love your rationale for liking it!

The actress is just terrible at maintaining an American/English accent. Sometimes she sound fine then other times she clearly has a French accent or just sounds weird.

Wait, wasn't that a plot point in This Is Us? Next thing you know, their Instapot will short out, the house will burn down, and all the problems will be solved.
