Why does everyone hate Walmart?

POOR customer service.
Smells like cheap plastic.
Grimy.
Thank God for Target.

They literally sell the same crap as Target. They just need an air freshener.

Exactly. Chinese slave labor crap.

I couldn't care less about the clientele. What drives me crazy is that where I live, we have a SuperWalmart and not much else, but it's poorly stocked and managed and the customer service sucks. I wish there was somewhere else to shop.

I disagree. The quality of the clothing at Target is better than what's sold at Walmart. Not to mention that the customer service is 1000x better at Target.

There’s no longer somewhere else to shop because Wal-mart put all the other stores out of business.

How so?

It's like a United Nations wacko bazaar in there.

Costco treats their employees decently, though.

I'm PP and I know what you're saying, but I'm talking about even Target. The closest Target is a half-hour away, whereas Walmart's less than 10.

Sketchy clientele, cheap ass products, and horrible customer service.

I hate Walmart bcs it is always crowded, cashiers are slow as heck, you can barely find what you are looking for. It is like hunger games. For example, I need a couple of those $5 college dorm mirrors they sell, and I am avoiding going to get them bcs parking is nightmare, finding where they put them is nightmare, and they ripped me off a few times at Walmart. I literarily went to my car and was how was that $40 ?and I looked at the receipt and it had canned soups, god knows what on it. I had no canned soup in my cart or anywhere. The whole place is disorganized. I even buy my hair products at Wegmans, just not to get a panic attack from going to Walmart.

Walmart.com for quick, cheap online ordering (and nicest website);

Target for best in-store purchasing experience;

Costco if you care about the rest of humanity.

And Trader Joe's if you hate what Bezos is doing to Whole Foods, like forcing layoffs then re-hiring the same people with worse compensation packages:

I went to the Walmart in Horseheads, NY (yes, that's the name of the town) this summer while I was vacationing in the Finger Lakes. It was huge, clean, and well organized. Yes, there were overweight low SES people in there but so what? I am a teacher and they had the lowest prices I've ever seen on Crayola markers and other school supplies. I bought a few toiletries there, a pack of Fruit of the Loom underwear, and some school supplies. The Target that I have easy access to here in DC is the one in Columbia Heights. I go there often and my pharmacy is in there. It looks like the fall of Saigon in there. I'm surprised there's not a goat running around. There are also overweight low SES people in there. And so what? I guess what I'm saying is both places can be decent places to shop or can be places that you want to get the hell out of immediately. I don't really see the difference in stock except maybe in Target's "designer" lines and fake mid century modern housewares. Most of it is imported from China at both places and it is what it is.

I have descided to only shop at Walmart for a year, or at least until I have paid off my credit card debt

Do your even live around here? That does not even describe the Walmart population in this area at all.

I was in Walmart yesterday and this didn’t describe what I saw at all. I do like Target better, but the Walmart near me is always clean and the employees are comparable to all non-luxury retail for DC. Mostly younger women, often immigrant running the registers. I saw individuals and families from numerous demographic groups, with no one type dominating.
