A witness who will only be identified as Lauretta told CNN her son was in a bathroom with a shooter at the McDonald's. "That's where he loaded his weapon," she said. "I hear like an alarm and boom, boom, boom... And he's still killing the children. The children were sitting to ear. They can't run." Lauretta said she heard the gunman say, "Allahu Akbar," or God is great. "I know this because I'm Muslim. I hear this and I only cry."

I can't find that quote on CNN's website now. No other news outlet seems to be carrying the report. Do you have a link to the story?

According to translations in the subsequent tweets, the shooter says he is German, was born in Germany, and was bullied while in social services. But, if a good German-speaker could confirm this, it would be helpful.

He could have been born in Germany but is the child of immigrants and most likely he is Muslim is my bet.

A lot of the violence does seem to come from the second generation.

It's in their main story. http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/22/europe/germany-munich-shooting/index.html

Cant seem to copy it and paste it here

Here it is:

Man: "You fucking Asshole you..."
>Shooter: "Because of you I [unintelligible]..."
Balcony Man: "You cunt you. you're a cunt"
>Shooter: "...and now I have to buy a gun to shoot you"
Balcony Man: "a gun fuck off your head isn't on right"
>Shooter and Balcony man shouting at each other
Balcony Man apparently to people filming: "He's got a gun here the guy has one"
Unseen voice: "Shit/Fucking Turks!"
Balcony Man: "Shit/Fucking Kanacken" (foreigners basically)
Balcony man to someone else : "EY! HE'S GOT A GUN! He has loaded his gun! Get the cops here!"
>Shooter: "I am German."
Balcony Man: "You're a cunt is what you are"
>Shooter: "Stop filming!"
Balcony Man: "A cunt is what you are, what the fuck are you doing?"
>Shooter: "Yeah what, I was born here!"
Balcony Man: "Yeah and what the fuck you think you're doing???"
>Shooter: "I grew up here in the Hartz 4 (unemployment benefits in Germany) area.
Balcony Man and Shooter talk at same time, can't make it out.
>Shooter says something about "Behandlung" which is "treatment" in both medical treatment or just how you treat people, not sure which one he means.
Balcony Man says something like "Yeah treatment is something for you"
>Shooter: "I haven't done anything here for [unintelligible]"
>Shooter: "Just shut your fucking face man"
Balcony Man: "You cunt you"
Balcony Man: "HEY! HE'S ON THE UPPER FLOOR HERE [unintelligible]"
Filming man goes into cover, shooter starts firing.
Balcony man calls him a cunt again.
Balcony man shouts something at him about "shooting here" and Shooter replies multiple times "Yeah, that's where you're right! Yeah you're right with that!" Yeah you're right!"
Video ends.

I would still appreciate additional confirmation from German speakers.

It is unclear who is saying what. The non-shooters were yelling "foreigners" probably at the foreign gunmen. It's obvious.

"Foreign gunman" - as you put it, appears incorrect. The gunman answers in perfect German and stars he grew up there. So its likely he is a citizen - maybe even born there

However - it's also likely the people yelling "Turks" and "Foreigner" perceived the shooter as an ethnic Turk; I surmise the shooter will turn out to be the son of Turkish immigrants; many Turkish immigrants are Muslim.

It's still early, but if the eyewitness CNN is quoting is right about the "Alula Akbar" shout (by the gunman) then this attack follows the patterns of the Charlie Hebdo attacks (the brothers were native born Parisians) and in part the San Bernadino attack (the husband was a Chicago native).

All of of these assailants, along with the Boston Bombers, appear to have "self radicalized" into Islamic terrorism- largely through use of the Internet.

Yep. I lived in Berlin and Munich 2002-2004. Safe, safe cities. Big Turkish population in Berlin that was well assimilated.

Let's say it : radical Islam. That is what has gone viral. Freaks are drawn to it like a magnet. You can be nice and sweet and they still want to kill you because you are a non-believer (yes you newborn baby, 10-year old boy, etc).

They are told to come. Fit in and lay low (like the 9/11 killers at the strip bars; the college student and his brother responsible for the Boston bombings, the Orlando shooter that frequented Pulse)...all described as friendly. Read the websites by Isil, etc on how to spread Islam. Chilling.

I'm not afraid of immigration. My ancestors were immigrants. I'm afraid of the current talk of "let them all in and just be nice"...completely missing the point of that some are banking on just that to spread the evil dogma.

It's the ideology we need to change. Yes, war and bombing will probably only make it spread---but teaching these actions are bad and it's a threat to humanity and you should t do this to susceptible populations is not being done either---we aren't even allowed to call it what it is.

This second generation terrorism by Muslims is a pattern which is why vetting the refugees is pointless because even if parents are okay - kids are turning out to become radicalized.

They played the womans account over the telephone on CNN. I watched it and heard her. Her son watched the terrorist load the gun in the bathroom and the lady was next to him shooting.

Right it makes sense she did not get shot even if she was next to him because she was also Muslim.

Was her son ok? Is "to ear" supposed to be 'there'?

Radical Islamic Terrorists. That is what Americans fear. Not Muslims.
The challenge is...... when we have people who seek asylum here or attempt to immigrate here - if asked if they are a terrorist, they are not going to answer in the affirmative.
Until we have a very good, fool-proof method of vetting these people, I am all for slowing down the immigration process. Even this administration’s foreign policy experts have said that we cannot adequately vet those coming from Syria.
This is not rocket science.

But Trump and his supporters want to ban *ALL* Muslims, not just those coming from Syria, but even those coming from the UK or Canada, for example. Trump has stated this outright. He has even intimated that American born Muslims to immigrant parents shouldn't be here after the San Bernadino shootings.

Nope. He has said we should put a moratorium on immigration from areas with entities known to promote radical Islamic terrorism UNTIL we can set up a system to properly screen the immigrants. Once they're properly screened, they can come in, if they qualify.

That is the buzz on Twitter, as I don't speak German.

NO! Re-read the Twitter link you posted!

The suspect is NOT the one who apparently said "fuck foreigners." The suspect does, however, say "I'm German" in a clear German native accent.

So it appears that this person did at least grow up in Germany.

If this is terrorism, it appears to be home-grown terrorism.

A witness, who is Muslim, said she heard him yell "allahu akbar" per CNN.
