But after reading the interview with the actress who plays Marni (thanks, pp!), I now understand it better, however, it brought Marni's self-absorption to new heights . Also, it was clear from this week's episode that Marni has not learned/evolved at all, despite what the actress said in her interview - the scene eith Ray was glaring in that regard, and the one with Desi was just a beat behind it. I do love how equally self-absorbed Marni and Hannah are - when they interact, it's like two separate conversations/dramas going on simultaneously.

Can we now shift our observations to how sad it was to visually watch Hannah realize the connection between Adam and Jessa. I actually felt sorry for her for the first time in the show.

Love this show. Signed, a 45 yr old woman

YES, to all of the above (from a 47 yr. old woman )!
Loved the scene with Ray when he pretty much shut her down as she was making her grand announcement that she and Desi had split up. Go Ray! Such a class act. I actually love Allison Williams because she portrays the character of Marnie so perfectly. Self-absorbed and completely unaware of it.

I am finding Hannah more and more revolting as the episodes go on (the "Basic Instinct" moment? Are you serious, Lena Dunham???). However, I did feel her pain when she saw Jessa and Adam together. Her face said it all - hurt and lost. I also felt very sorry for her in that moment. I can't fathom what a guy like Fran is doing with her. He is such a rational, level-headed human being and she's such a nutcase. Wake up, Fran!!

Adam is weird as all get-out, but I loved the scene where he kissed Jessa from head to toe. So sweet.

The Marne and Ray scene was painful! Just when I had hope that Marne would evolve!!

I didn't feel too bad for Hannah. She has a gorgeous, kind, loving boyfriend who she doesn't deserve and then just uses him for support when she finds out about Adam and Jessa. She was in pain, but she's been so self-absorbed all along that it's hard to really feel sorry for her.

I was proud of Elijah for standing up to Dill at the party at his house. Wonder what will happen between them next time in light of their hook up that night?

I miss seeing Shosh. She's been my favorite character for a long time.

I thought the girls all reached new levels of immaturity and selfishness last night. It was the first time I really couldn't relate to anyone.

YES. Each one of them was truly awful. But Hannah, of course, continues to reach new and ever more loathsome lows. I was cringing throughout.

Also, was that Lisa Bonet as Desi's new love interest/hippie guru?

It was! She's gorgeous!

And honestly I thought this one they behaved so poorly that it wasn't even believable.

I totally agreed with Fran when he said he can't believe he wasted a whole year on Hannah. I feel the same way, brother.

I basically agree about last night's episode although the one exception was Adam - I have always found him really endearing despite his weirdness and he was the one character last night who was doing for others rather than himself (well, I guess Ray did, too, but he annoys me).

ITA about Adam. He has really risen to the occasion with baby Sample (LOL!). I loved when Jessa was freaking out about the spit up, insisting he come and help her, and he said something like, "You're an adult. She's a baby. Why do you need more help than a baby?" So, so true.

Shoshanna is incredibly annoying, and always has been, IMO. She never makes any sense, just constant diarrhea of the mouth. What her ex said to her about growing the hell up was also very true. The men (except for Desi, of course) seem to be maturing a lot faster than the "women" in this show.

I love Fran. That whole scene with Hannah and Fran yelling at each other was outrageous - I can't believe Fran didn't run far, far away from Hannah a long time ago. She is appalling.

This is why you should never date coworkers.

This is also why you should never date anyone remotely like any of the characters on Girls.

Agree with all of this!

It felt like Adam grew up in this episode. His response to Jessa was perfect.

Hannah is just so clueless.

She is gorgeous, and talented.

Did you see the actors talking about the episode after? Allison Williams said Lisa Bonet was "badass" and "its like she has been around for a thousand years, but still looks twenty"

hello? editorial for the actress with her foot in her mouth please? What a stupid girl.

Sorry. I hear it as a compliment... What's the problem?
