if you have mutual friends, ask them if they heard from him. if he has a best friend that you know of, find him on facebook and message him.

send him an email in the weird instance, he lost his phone or something and at least responding to email (although i would think he would have emailed you first but thats not the time to do this).

in the off chance that he is ignoring you, phrase any inquiry to friends and family with more of you just wanting to know if he is ok because you havent heard from him and are worried

But the uncle who was supposedly with him at the cabin where there's no reception or internet shared an article on FB? If not for this small piece of information, I would also be concerned.

OP, if it does turn out that he stayed an extra couple of days and neglected to find a way to inform you, it's not "out of character", it's showing you his true character. Someone who is serious about the relationship and wants to be with you would care enough to let you know of a change in his plans, especially if you are in constant contact otherwise.

I'm with the other posters who say that if something bad happened to him you would already know. I do hope it's not the case and you get the relief of knowing one way or the other soon.

If you don't know ANY of his family to contact regarding this you really are not as close as you think you are.

Five years from now you're going to be posting here wondering why he hasn't proposed to you yet.

Check the court records in Maine, if he ended up in jail, something may be up by now. You have to think outside the box in a situation like this.

OP here: it's 11am and still no word from him and his phone is still off. I tried to friend request his uncle so my message would go to his normal inbox and not his other inbox but he hasn't accepted yet. I sent my boyfriend another message and neither have been read at all, just say "sent".

I'm going to NICELY ask that the people who think this is funny or a joke, just stop. I am VERY worried at this point as this isn't like him at all. No, he does not have a wife or a secret life I don't know about and no, he did not run off with a "fit hiker" as someone so nicely said. I was up every hour last night checking my phon so this isn't a joke to me and the rude comments aren't helping at all.

As far as driving up there, that's not something im going to do right now. I'm going to see about calling local police stations around him and hospitals and go from there. I'll re consider making the 4 hour drive if I come up empty handed on everything else.
