Britney Spears DUI last night

I wish Drew Barrymore would reach out to Britney to give her a makeover and help her find a trusted team to keep her medicated, in therapy, and overall supported and cared for.

Her mental health issues are serious and she needs help.

Your rose colored glasses need cleaning. People who think like you are responsible for the mentally ill homeless sleeping wherever they choose and not receiving proper care

Uh no. Brittany makes tons of money and is not homeless. She does make weird and poor choices. That does not meet the standard for being placed in a conservatorship. People who cannot care for themselves and are living on the streets typically do meet the standard for conservatorship. In Virginia, the standard is “gravely disabled” and unable to provide for one’s basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. Brittany plainly does not meet this standard.

DP- Britney had to sell the rights to her music because she ran out of money. She spent millions on private jets to Mexico over the last few years. It was very reckless spending and those mooching off her have no reason to stop it.

Last time I checked, selling the rights to your music and spending the proceeds for fun doesn’t result in you losing your basic freedoms. Otherwise, like half the NFL retirees would be in conservatorships.

Spending your money on meth isn’t what most would call “fun.”

Zero credible evidence she's on meth. But blowing your money on drugs doesn't justify conservatorship under the law anyway. Once again, consider retired professional athletes. Should a substantial portion of them be in conservatorships for making idiotic financial decisions and having addictions?

Certainly those that have clear CTE damage engaging in bizarre behavior should be, yes.

DP. Plenty of male celebrities who have rumored to use drugs and wasted money that haven’t been forced into conservatorships. Chris Brown, Justin Beiber, Kanye west etc

Why do posters keep arguing that because plenty of x, y and z male celebrities/athletes do this then she can do it? Is there a troll who is just hell bent on arguing that she should never be under a conservatorship bc homeless people exist/ NFL players get DUIs/ Kanye West is bipolar/ Chris Brown (huh?)/male celebrities waste money……

Because it highlights that her public conduct doesn’t meet the standard for conservatorship.

I don’t suppose you’re arguing that all these other celebrities engaged in similar or worse conduct should be placed in conservatorships?

And? Look at their messed up lives.

Do you think all of these people should be placed in conservatorships? If so, do you understand what it means to be placed in a conservatorship and what freedoms the conservatee loses?

I also think that Lindsay Lohan is intelligent and shrewd. She also had mentors like Jamie Lee Curtis and Jane Fonda looking out for her. And her parents, while hot messes, do seem to retain a relationship with her/her sibs.
Britney is not smart - she is vulnerable and credulous. Mix in ineffective parenting, estrangement, mental illness, and a coterie of leeches, and you have a recipe for disaster.

She would not have all that money if she'd been on her own.

She was already rich before the conservatorship. And you could also argue that part of her mental state now is probably due to the conservatorship itself and basically becoming a slave with control over her own choices. Notice Amanda Bynes parents didn’t have her working away during her conservatorship.

I thought Amanda Bynes was fighting with her parents over the conservatorship and they want to transfer it to a mental health professional?

I’m not anti- Britney conservativeship, but I am anti-it being set up like a corporate structure where people could make millions off it. There should’ve been some sort of trust set up to ensure that Britney‘s needs were taken care of, but that people like Kevin and Jamie could not profit millions. I don’t understand why that viewpoint makes people assume I’m in the Free Britney group. She clearly needs help, but they were not helping her.

I also think just saying she was medicated for her mental health issues means you have not made yourself aware of the situation. She was clearly being medicated on high doses of lithium so that she’d be able to perform. It had nothing to do with treating her actual underlying mental health conditions - they truly abused this poor woman to make money. They dangled her kids in front of her like carrots, and I’m sure that contributed to her mental health. She was not allowed to see them for a period of time unless she performed etc.

I used to be deep into the publicity world 20 years ago and it is well known that Kevin was a hard partier that used hard drugs. I don’t know that he was ever a drug addict or anything, but he absolutely used hard drugs during the time they were having kids. He was already a dad that one too with kids from a prior relationship so he should’ve cleaned up his way years before.

Look into his wife, Victoria. She has a lovely mug shot from years ago. Also arrested multiple times for possession of a dangerous weapon, drug possessions, assault. She is a real gem.

Apparently Jameys colon ruptured and he’s living in an RV. Kevin got $60,000 for the book but did not make any money off sales because the publishers actually lost money due to the heavy marketing costs and low sales. I hope that he invested or something because Hawaii is incredibly expensive and his wife is apparently an assistant volleyball coach, which doesn’t pay that well.

Please go to law school, or even a cohesive argument. You’re just babbling and throwing stuff around hoping anything will stick. You really don’t make any sense at all.

Drew Barrymore is another person who, while her parents failed her tremendously, made it because she is an incredibly intelligent and hardworking person at her core. And she had people like Steven Spielberg and Neil Young looking out for her.

Britney isn't smart like Lindsay and Drew.

Anonymous wrote:She is a legal adult. In the US it is legal to have unmedicated mental illness.

There is very little her family can do since she is an adult.

This is the hard part. We had a family member in a manic, psychotic state recently and tried and tried and tried to get them help. The system absolutely wasn't effective and failed to do anything, despite caring family members doing everything they could to advocate.

The mentally ill family member was calling the DC police multiple times per night because she was hallucinating things, unplugging all appliances (including refrigerators and furnaces) to keep them from spying on her, and doing lots of other completely irrational things. She then totaled her car fleeing from a hallucination. When taken to the ER by family she was determined not to be a danger to herself and others and they refused to treat her. The police made the same determination. She ultimately broke into her landlord's apartment, stole car keys, stole their car and totaled their car at high speed. Even after being arrested she was still only held for 24 hours because she wasn't determined to be a threat, despite family members arguing that she needed to be held in a hospital and stabilized on meds. Nevermind she was driving the stolen car at an insane speed and could have easily killed someone.

If you've ever tried to get a mentally ill person help, you'll quickly realize how impossible it can be. If their mental illness has them paranoid of receiving care, there is very very little you can do to help them.
