I don't understand how you don't understand. Read the article and the post right above yours. Its been detailed a few times now.

I did read the article and I still don’t understand.

He ran to the metro station to get away from them and they jumped the turnstile, but why were they chasing him in the first place?

People on this thread seem to think they were chasing him because he said something to them about jumping the fare. But they were chasing him before they jumped the fare.

"But they were chasing him before they jumped the fare."

Where is that being reported?

I think that is a possibility too. We won’t know unless/until there is a trial.

Court of public opinion would’ve labeled him a racist and charged him with a hate crime.

That’s better than being dead, don’t you think? If you start an altercation with some thug kids, you better be ready to finish it.

Let’s do the same for the masked rent-a-cop wannabes chasing members of our community and kidnapping them.

Let’s do the same to all of these dredges of society.

Exactly, it's not! They're standing there. He lets the gates close and they're made they couldn't slip in behind him. The video and the news didn't report the scene before that because they have footage that showed their first interaction was at the station they would have reported otherwise. That is not a possibility or it would have been reported.

Shouldn’t there be a police investigation? Wouldn’t that tell us why the girls were following him in the first place?

It's "dregs" not "dredges," MAGA.

There was. Are you always this hard headed PP? Now you're sock puppeting your previous statements please stop now. It's a lot. I feel like I must be typing back and forth to a child as there is no other explanation for this behavior.

And doesn't that imply that they were chasing him from before and he tried to use the gates to get away?

No, the victim did not force the gates to close but instead hesitated in passing through allowing enough time to pass so that the second-long delay in the gate's closing to tick by and, thus, prevent the animals from passing through on his entry.

Dude seriously, Wmata does care, why do you think they’ve been upgrading all the fare gates?

Dude, I see people jumping those every single day. I'm not confronting anyone over a $2 fare. That's WMATA's job.
Fare evasion is down since the gate improvements. People who really want to will find a way. I use the metro. It pisses me off too but l know better than to confront potentially violent people. Not victim blaming here but warning others be smart and stay out of their way. Same as in the street. When l wax younger a young teen threatened me for “staring” at him in a McDonald’s. I wasn’t but he was making out with his girlfriend in the restaurant and l was looking for a seat and quickly moved away. Things like this over the years have made me cautious about protecting myself.

Staring is not OK in some cultures.

Well, threatening a person is not OK in all cultures

Anonymous wrote:As everyone here, I am horrified with what happened to this man. And I am also furious about what will undoubtedly come next.

So even if these two "girls" (and I use quotes in place of the actual word I am thinking) are arrested and put in jail, hundreds of thousands of public dollars will be spent on them between their court cases and prison care. But this man's family will be given ... what exactly? Pity? So sorry for your loss statements? I am so sick over so many resources going towards the trash of the world instead of to the innocent victims.

Are there any organizations that fight for the victim and/or victim's families beyond the initial offering of support? If anyone knows of such an organization, please let me know as I would like to support them with my dollars and time.

AMEN!

In DC there is DC Witness. Not sure about NoVA.

PP here. Thank you. I will check them out.
It is time for resources to be spent on the victims than on the trash who hurt the innocent.
