There already is an uncapped H2 visa program for agricultural work. But that requires paying higher wages than for illegals. |
Why do people fall for every misleading headline? ICE agents didn't kill, the person died trying to evade arrest/deportation. |
The H2 visa program currently in effect doesn't solve the problem of making it easier for economic migrants to work here legally which leads us back to Congress failing to produce immigration reform measures that do make it easier for economic migrants to work here legally. Yes, this means employers and H2 visa employees will need to pay payroll taxes which is an expense that will inevitably be at least partially passed on to the consumer. If these farm raids don't convince the masses of the need for the meaningful immigration reform that Clinton, Bush, and Obama along with all sensible Americans have asked Congress for, what will? |
Trump has implemented meaningful immigration reform. Namely enforcing existing immigration law. This is a prerequisite for any 'amnesty now enforcement later' immigration reform. The second step is to have Democrats support enforcing immigration law, which they are not doing. Therefore nothing can be passed by Congress as no one trusts them to not do as Biden did and ignore enforcement. |
Exactly. |
Trump's number one campaign promise in 2016 was to secure the border with a wall. He FAILED miserably. Still no wall. As far as helping the immigration issue goes, how has Trump with the GOP controlled Congress made it easier for the economic migrants we so desperately need to come here legally to work? How can the "immigration problem fixer" president not be able to secure the border with a wall and be able to pass meaningful immigration reform when his party controls Congress???????? You are duped, my friend, but I still love you. |
You are making the same argument people who say "a car killed a pedestrian" instead of "pedestrian dies in auto crash" and it isn't a winning argument to try to make. The guy would still be alive if 1) ICE used normal, humane tactics and 2) used identification. The ICE impersonators out there are making ICE's job harder because no one knows who is ICE and who are some rando's trying to kidnap and human traffic. |
No, not really. The only thing he has done is steal money from the US taxpayer to fund an expanded gestapo force. The actual border laws are still the same as they were this time last year. If you want meaningful reform, you need to do the work of passing actual legislation. At least that is the way our country worked until this year. Now we live in an authoritarian state and I guess people like you are okay with that. |
Stupid gravity. Can we repeal that? |
They don’t care. They want to live in an authoritarian state. It’s what they voted for and they’ve made it quite clear, and they have no regard for rights or freedoms. This will end soon enough, so I’m not hugely worried about it long term, but it is insulting to watch our tax dollars be wasted like this and to see our country so poorly represented. |
I’ll guess that the answer is no and that they just rounded up a bunch of brown people to put into camps. |
Enforcing existing immigration law is not “reform.” The last meaningful immigration reform in the U.S. was the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, signed by President Reagan, which legalized about 3 million undocumented immigrants and introduced employer sanctions for hiring undocumented workers.
