They really ought to replace Columbus Day with Immigrants Day. Unless you’re Native American, we are all descended from immigrants. I can’t move to Germany and become “German.” But anyone can move to the United States and become an “American.” It’s something powerfully unique to our country and has been one of the main contributors to American dominance and ingenuity.

Why we don’t have a holiday to celebration immigrants just blows my mind. It would actually be a great way to integrate them into American society.

We don’t need any of these nonsense “federal holidays” off. They weren’t days off of work or school so years ago beyond in Boston, NY, and DC.

Having Junteenth off is code for having a fake email job with a leftist employer. I kind of get why people scoff at it. I used to live in Texas and it made sense as a holiday there. It makes a lot less sense in, say, Connecticut.

We already have MLK holiday. Juneteenth is just more DEI overkill. How about establishing a day of reflection in remembrance of the genocide of American Indians at Wounded Knee Creek, the Trail of Tears, etc. ?
