I think that's pretty much the point. You have a handful of people who don't like Torey and no specific reasons or examples to back any of the allegations. This could be one parent whose kid didn't get to swim at Winter Classic driving all of this or perhaps a coach or owner of another club who lost a location and is also being vocal with their grudge. Without specifics, volume of threads on an anonymous site means nothing. Each and every time details are asked for, the only responses are vague hints or ridiculous statements (the coach is chummy because he swam a relay against his kids in practice one day; some coaches talk smack about their swimmers and I can picture him doing it so he must have; he won a competitive contract but it must have been a sham because there is no way he could figure out how many swimmers a facility could hold and how much to charge per swimmer to underbid two other clubs by eating into his own profit).

If anything, the volume of threads shows me how ridiculous this all is. Can't we go back to just complaining about how tech suits are unfair in the NVSL, little kids shouldn't have to be walked off for false starts and how d1 teams don't support all star relays?

The denial is strong!

I was thinking the same thing!

Yes, that was a pretty strong denial. And the two responses from at least one person offered nothing substantive to the thread. That should be the most telling point.

Shall we find out when the results from the Florida Meet will be finalized and posted?

That should be a different thread. This is about whether it’s appropriate for a Head Coach to accept a ride on a private jet with one of the families that he coaches…and the answer is a resounding NO! Unless you ask the one Tuckahoe/York parent who wants to try to justify every questionable decision that this coach continues to make.

Perhaps people don’t want to put themselves by providing detailed information?

This thread feels like it belongs on Jerry Springer—anonymous voices in the background debating plane trips and Winter Classic qualifications..

The parent in question does not own the jet, FWIW. They were offered to use it and offered for others to join them. How is it inappropriate? Perhaps it seemed a little thirsty sending pictures of them on it to the group chat, but its not as if the coach riding on the jet impacted swim times.

And the Head Coach should have said no. Any coach with any sort of good sense knows there is a professional line between coaches and families that should not be crossed…parents should not be your buddies. I’m not shocked that this coach doesn’t get that

Get your stories straight - it was a turbo prop, not a jet. Jeez.

I am not sure if the coach should say no. They can be friends. And there is obvious favoritism and behind close door dealings.

But there is no love loss at York for him leaving. Good riddance.

The coach definitely should have said no. We have a great relationship with my kid’s coach but there is zero chance he would have said yes to the same offer. As a coach you need to maintain professional boundaries with the families/kids that you coach.
