| I don't really care if some Canadian vacations here or not. |
It's not just politics it's also economics and most smart people actually try to understand because politics shape the environment we live in and our future options. Market is crashing, WSJ is panicking, anybody with a brain is concerned. Canadians have brains, but yours obv got cooked under that red hat, my condolences! |
um, America is threatening to invade them? Also..maybe get off TikTok |
| I can imagine it would go really well if Canada started talking about annexing the US and imposing tariffs first. Canada’s response has been pretty mellow all things considered. |
Tiktok is not where you should get your news |
Every news source covered that. Well maybe not Fox since they live in an alternate reality. |
Are you really trying Canadian-splain how Canadians feel and know when you are a maga pos? Gfy, you have no clue what Canadians are doing and we are VERY aware of tariffs. It’s not politics, it’s our economy and sovereignty. |

I am Canadian and have been on DCUM for a decade. I don’t hate Americans and have many American friends and colleagues. I have transnational research projects with Americans.
I am very angry towards your government and your boss’s daily threats of annexing us as part of your country. We live in big cities, work the same jobs as you, laugh at the same jokes as you (although Canadians are funnier 😛) etc.. However, we do not want to be American. Don’t you hear the daily threats of Canadian annexation in your news feeds? We see them daily. |
| Canadian's have better candy and hunkier rugged men. It's also colder and they drink more booze. |
I never saw anything about this on TikTok. Trump himself is saying this over and over and over again. Perhaps try to stay a little more informed if you're going to try to lecture others. |
They also have a better public school system which teaches them how to use apostrophes. |
Sooooo… Americans are allowed to be xenophobic, transphobic, homophobic, gun toting bullies who voted in a rapist criminal, but Canadians are not allowed to have any feels that their leader *that they voted for* is coming for them? Americans DO have this animosity towards Canadians if they’re not standing up for us, our integrity, and our soverignty. Seriously? In the most Canadian terms I can muster - Yeah, no, F off eh? Elbows up. |
I'm a Canadian who loves the United States. Spent all of my vacations there until I left home at eighteen to go to college in the US, where I majored in American history and minored in American literature. Even interned on Capitol Hill. Much of my family is American. Some of my favourite cities in the world are in the US. Hell, if this was happening thirty years ago, I'd probably be stoked to become an American. But many of even the most worldly, educated liberal Americans have this strange myopia toward the rest of the world that no one else has. I suppose it comes from being socialized in such a large and powerful country where most of the world's entertainment originates. I can't adequately describe it, but maybe another non-American who knows what I mean can. |
I don't have a news feed. I chose the news I read. No algorithm feeds my dark, secret desires. |
Having visited Canada, I haven't seen any evidence of this. |
