Totally agree. I never thought I would be a parent pushing for more discipline in a public school but I was there last week for an event and I was disturbed with what I saw. The kids are basically running the school. There's very little accountability. I'm glad my child only has a few months remaining until graduation. I've certainly grown tired of this, and quite honestly, it's just embarrassing.

Morans Corrupt Political Scam. Where kids come last, just behind accountability. An absolute disgrace.

Would this be remotely acceptable if the students were learning just a little bit? No. But that does not seem to be happening again.

Building more housing isn’t an issue if MCPS would actually adjust boundaries on a regular basis instead of once every 40 years.

Also, I don’t think every instance can be traced to an MPDU. Per the rental listing for the kid arrested last week’s apartment, it was rented at market rate.

This is at a way higher level than the PTSA. Sadly, it will take people dying for the BOE and MCPS to act.

Ptsa can’t do anything here but make noise. This is an Mcps AND state problem. Not just bcc. Paint branch had an issue last week too, and we almost had that shooting at wooton.

Why was the community letter sent by an AP instead of the Principal?

Did anywhere in that letter did it mention if student will be back in school? Did it mention consequences based on student of conduct?? Any follow-up to where student is? Did student act alone? Etc etc etc? Are you sending your kids to school?

If you think the PTSA can do a damn thing about this, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. BCC can’t even do anything. It needs to come from MCPS. All the platitudes of “we take these incidents seriously” and kids who should never step foot in BCC again, yet are in the halls the next day, are due to “we are following the MCPS code of conduct” are straight out of Central Office. I dislike Mooney quite a bit but the county is at fault for these policies. I am the opposite of a right winger but perhaps we’ve gone too far in accommodating feelings and being supportive while ignoring the need to teach kids there are consequences for their actions. Pressure needs to be applied at the county, and perhaps even state, level.

Thought they said student was in police custody and that it is under police investigation?
