WOW you entitled little brat, expecting grandparents to pay for all of that!! What is wrong with you??? |
| Entitled Millennial and Gen Z Mamas. I don't know how y'all will survive once your mom and dad are dead. Who will you go to for handouts??? |
Unlikely. It’s really common and frankly weird IMO that grandparents are into building their own nursery. Some of them have nicer cribs and stuff in their houses than the adult children do in their houses. If OP’s parents are like this then it wouldn’t be weird to put car seats on the list. OP said she would have been fine buying them herself. The grandparents didn’t just not want to waste their money on car seats, they didn’t want OP to waste her money on car seats so they didn’t tell her. Grandparents who don’t use car seats are grandparents that never get to have the kids unsupervised. It sucks to be at an airport without car seats. We would take ours on the plane but one of the bars needed to secure them in the car had to be checked. We forgot it at baggage claim and didn’t realize until the shuttle had dropped us off in the parking lot. The plane had been delayed, it was pre Uber times . DH want back on the next shuttle which we were shocked came because it was 2 am. I stayed in the cold dark parking lot with two little kids while he went back to get them. If he hadn’t found them, we would have gone back to the airport but it wouldn’t have occurred to me at 2 am that you could rent them. |
| OP, did you even send a link or did you just casually drop "car seats" on the list. Like they would know what to get, even though it's shameless to ask. |
OP said these grandparents asked HER what they should buy. they didn't go off and furnish a fancy nursery. OP sent them a list that contained a crib, baby monitor, stroller, high chair, etc. When I had infants and toddlers, we told my parents not to buy anything - they borrowed a pack and play from their neighbors, we brought our baby monitor with us, we brought our stroller with us, we bought and had one of those fisher price chair top high chairs delivered to their house, and after the first time traveling with our own car seats, we bought some to be delivered to my parents house. How bratty of OP to expect her parents/ILs to furnish an entire nursery for a short visit!! My parents have a big house, but what are they going to do with a huge high chair? We gave them something portable that could be left on a shelf in the garage when we weren't there. Not everything is about you, OP, geez! |
| OP got DESTROYED on this thread and never came back, LOL. She knows she's in the wrong. |
| There are always lots of car seats at the neighborhood Goodwills. They can't sell them because, holy moly, the car it was in might have been in a fender bender. While all the plastic in these cars and the airbags are allowed to continue operating after a car is repaired from said accident, somehow the carseat industry has convinced us all to toss out these giant pieces of plastic seating and everyone must buy a new one. |

My mother GLADLY had a car seat installed in her backseat for years so that she could drive her grandkids around. She’d keep it in the trunk so she was always ready. She did rear facing, forward and boosters.
Why? Bc she’s not an a**hole. OP, I’d be mad they said they’d buy them and then didn’t. I’d send my DH to Walmart to buy seats and then come back for us. I hope GMA and Gpa are annoyed but IDGAF. |
Are you a teen boy? OP didn't get destroyed and quite frankly I don't think she's wrong. I do think there are a lot of nasty posters here with no manners or empathy. |
Did you fly to see her once a year? |
+1 My parents were happy to make their home a place easy for their grandkids to be and visit. My dad is super at installing car seats. Selfish greedy and cheap gets you nowhere with family IMO. |
