I'm still seeing lots of hate and nasty comments coming from the right, and there's nothing worse than a sore winner.

lol after reading this thread

I have no interest in doing this.
I now hate everyone. This election has made me hate people. They voted for hate, they wanted hate, give it to them

Puerto Ricans live on a floating pile of garbage. Hillary Clinton was described as a "sick SOB." And Trump talks about the enemy within and ruling like a dictator. We say that Trump is fascist because his own 4-star general chief of staff said he would rule like a fascist if reelected. We didn't make that up or use the term lightly. So now we're supposed to forgive and forget?

I am the OP, and the level of discourse at the MSG rally was awful; I think we can all agree: regrettable comments were made.

But let’s be real here: the level of discourse was lowered when those voting for President Trump were collectively labeled: “a basket of deplorables” many years ago. I don’t recall any apology or regret. It is hardly the only example. Both sides do it, if we are being honest.

And the issue of “labels” on people in general: it is time for that to end.

I am specifically referring to identity politics, which are so toxic to our nation and our democracy.

Let’s move forward as one nation, working together to make America a better place for us to live and raise our families.

This. Everyone is suspect. No new friends. My focus is on keeping me and my immediate family safe.

Let hate ring! I despise all the sick maga to quote their leader!

Let’s now put all that behind us and work together, as one nation, to make America a better place; a place our children and grandchildren will be even more proud to call home.

Who’s with me?

I'm all for it but unity was so much easier to achieve back in the day when we had legitimate presidential candidates and legitimate presidents that had elite leadership skills.

I do miss they days when there wasn't such a stark difference between D and R. Or maybe there was and I was just young enough not to care.

He’s already a uniter. Look how many people left the dem party to vote for him.

But keep in mind: the mandate is clear. Trump won the popular vote. "Unity" will not be defined as consensus governing to accommodate radical Dem policies.

Another Trump voter here. I don’t need any apologies. I just want our country to begin to mend.

Then you voted for the wrong person.

Why TF would anyone apologize to Trump voters?

Such a gaslighting abuser comment.

Serious question. Why are you on this thread since you clearly have no interest in moving forward as one nation as the OP proposes? There are 7,999,543 other threads where you can spew your hatred about Trump and those who voted for him.

How exactly do you or the OP propose we all "come together"? The two sides have such fundamentally different views, what do you think we should compromise on exactly? Please give specfic examples of how to do this.

It’s really not that complicated.

Step 1. Stop spewing hatred.

Step 2. If you know someone who voted for a different presidential candidate, sit down with them and actually try to understand why they voted the way they did. If you can’t agree, agree to disagree and acknowledge the other’s right to their opinion. Do not spew hatred in the process.

Step 3. Purposefully meet people who have different opinions than you and engage in step 2.

Step 4. Get your news from a wide range of sources and perspectives. Then engage in Steps 2 and 3.

Step 5. If you’re unwilling to engage in steps 1-4, seek help.

Step 6. Contemplate what you’ve learned by engaging in steps 1-5 and find some common ground.

Aa new Trump voter I am able to do the above with my friends who voted for Harris and guess what: we are still friends and respect each other.

Your Harris-voting friends don't respect you. They may pretend to, but they don't.

Sure. They have been my best friends from college since first day of freshman year September of 1981 at one of the remaining seven sisters and as of Nov. 5. 2024 they all don't respect me. Were you on the hour + zoom call the 5 of us had today? No, didn't think so.

+1

People suck. I thought maybe 2016 was a fluke, but no, people do suck.

They discussed it on a separate text chain after the call.

Absolutely not. Besides, as a Black woman, anybody who expressed support for Trump was always against me and never a friend. How could they.

Fine but then don't complain about the country being divided.

Is that a joke?

Trump hurled insults at literally hundreds of people back then (on top of thousands of lies) and you claim Clinton lowered the discourse?

You are a gaslighting troll. GTFO.
