To those asking for unity... Did you see the Madison Square Garden event? Kamala was described as "Samoan-Malaysian", a whore, and the Anti-Christ. Puerto Ricans live on a floating pile of garbage. Hillary Clinton was described as a "sick SOB." And Trump talks about the enemy within and ruling like a dictator. We say that Trump is fascist because his own 4-star general chief of staff said he would rule like a fascist if reelected. We didn't make that up or use the term lightly. So now we're supposed to forgive and forget?
I am the OP, and the level of discourse at the MSG rally was awful; I think we can all agree: regrettable comments were made. But let’s be real here: the level of discourse was lowered when those voting for President Trump were collectively labeled: “a basket of deplorables” many years ago. I don’t recall any apology or regret. It is hardly the only example. Both sides do it, if we are being honest. And the issue of “labels” on people in general: it is time for that to end. I am specifically referring to identity politics, which are so toxic to our nation and our democracy. Let’s move forward as one nation, working together to make America a better place for us to live and raise our families.
