Time to come together and move forward as one nation

I used to practice radial acceptance with the MAGA in my family and the MAGA I meet at social functions. I would listen to them pop off about J6 and the convictions. I am no longer doing this. They’re dead to me. I am quietly turning my back on all of them and retreating into a bubble because knowing them, interacting with them has brought nothing to my life. They’re deep in the hate, the stupidity, and the cult.

OP, are you Lindsay Graham? Such a clueless plea for unity without any apology for the rhetoric employed against half the country (enemy within, scum, garbage) and wishes for violence against opponents and the media, and laughing about violent attacks on Pelosi’s husband, and calling Harris names and slinging insults. Wow.

But keep in mind: the mandate is clear. Trump won the popular vote. "Unity" will not be defined as consensus governing to accommodate radical Dem policies.

Another Trump voter here. I don’t need any apologies. I just want our country to begin to mend.

Why TF would anyone apologize to Trump voters?

Such a gaslighting abuser comment.

Serious question. Why are you on this thread since you clearly have no interest in moving forward as one nation as the OP proposes? There are 7,999,543 other threads where you can spew your hatred about Trump and those who voted for him.

How exactly do you or the OP propose we all "come together"? The two sides have such fundamentally different views, what do you think we should compromise on exactly? Please give specfic examples of how to do this.

It’s really not that complicated.

Step 1. Stop spewing hatred.

Step 2. If you know someone who voted for a different presidential candidate, sit down with them and actually try to understand why they voted the way they did. If you can’t agree, agree to disagree and acknowledge the other’s right to their opinion. Do not spew hatred in the process.

Step 3. Purposefully meet people who have different opinions than you and engage in step 2.

Step 4. Get your news from a wide range of sources and perspectives. Then engage in Steps 2 and 3.

Step 5. If you’re unwilling to engage in steps 1-4, seek help.

Step 6. Contemplate what you’ve learned by engaging in steps 1-5 and find some common ground.

Aa new Trump voter I am able to do the above with my friends who voted for Harris and guess what: we are still friends and respect each other.

Your Harris-voting friends don't respect you. They may pretend to, but they don't.

Sure. They have been my best friends from college since first day of freshman year September of 1981 at one of the remaining seven sisters and as of Nov. 5. 2024 they all don't respect me. Were you on the hour + zoom call the 5 of us had today? No, didn't think so.

They discussed it on a separate text chain after the call.

If that makes you feel superior to me, go for it.

You objectively made a bad choice.

Trump makes no effort to unite.

Let’s now put all that behind us and work together, as one nation, to make America a better place; a place our children and grandchildren will be even more proud to call home.

Who’s with me?

WTF, we just put the king of divisive rhetoric in office 4 the next 4 years. You think he's gonna be able to put that behind him? When has he ever not been divisive?

Like I really do not understand people. Your opening post is dissonant with reality.

I really don't think America can be a better place when it is carrying out mass deportations without due process and allowing women to die in pregnancy.

My kid is LGBTQI. The world is not going to be a better place when they overturn Obergefell (which was hinted at in Dobbs) and she can't marry any more.

The Republicans always say things can't happen until they do. At that point, they claim it's obviously right.

The working and middle class are about to get f**ed by Trump. The tariffs will be expensive for them. Moving to a consumption tax will be great if you’re UMC. Killing the Department of Labor will do away with workplace safety and worker protections. So when MAGA gets hurt on the job, there will be nothing for them. UMC have desk jobs, so no risk of injury on the job. Good luck to everyone!

No. We must resist in any way possible and protect each other from the MAGA agenda

Absolutely not. Besides, as a Black woman, anybody who expressed support for Trump was always against me and never a friend. How could they.

Fine but then don't complain about the country being divided.

Let’s be real, when has this country ever been United. Never. It’s always been a them versus us.

As a woman with daughters, anyone who expressed support for men being called women and invading women's spaces was always against me.

Do you see how that works?

Get off your high horse and listen.

High horse. I would not expect anything else from a white racist Karen. But if it makes you feel better, I do t ride. Have a nice gallop.

It was not like this 20-40 years ago.
