Does your community pool have a dress code?

If your son is a pervert then you've failed as a parent. Maybe you should work on this instead of policing other girls/women.

Boys under the age of 26 have no control over their own behavior. They act without volition. As a society, we need to set up guardrails to help them mature into responsible adults.

I guess we should institutionalize them then, if they aren't able to control themselves in public. No need for them to mix with the rest of polite society until they can prove safe and responsible.

Do you really want your daughters being associated with the images you seen on the internet when boys go surfing for wanking material?

I do not think about how my choices, fashion or otherwise, compare to 'wanking material' of some random people.

However, dividing women into 'wanking material types' and 'nice wives and daughters' really rubs me the wrong way.

I’m with OP. I guess the point is, why do girls think they need these super revealing swimsuits at a family pool?

What NON-family friendly pools and beaches do your teenagers also go to, that you keep stressing the family pool aspect of the community pool?

You will never know, as not everyone has the same motivation, and it's none of your business anyways. I'm sure there are people who think what you wear to the mall is "super revealing", but just because they have a different comfort level than you doesn't mean they get to control what you wear either.

Why even bother with swim attire at all?

If you can’t tolerate seeing my penis and testicles then perhaps you should be at another pool.

Maybe tan lines. Maybe style. Maybe because they do want to look hot and sexy and attract your teen boys’ eyes and attention. We accept that teen boys are sexual beings, can we really not wrap our minds around teen girls also being sexual being who may want sexual attention at the location teens are hanging out?

That’s only applies to criminal behavior like drug dealing, robbery, carjackings or homicide and the like. And only for black children.

I find that the older I get the less I have even a private reaction to it. It could be because my own kids are small and I'm just in a very de-sexualized bodies place, so maybe when they're older I'll care again. But when I'm at the pool I'm just happy if people are happy. I don't care if they wear thongs. I knew their butts were in there the whole time! I'm also happy for them that it's about sexuality/attention - of course it is! That's a very important part of life. Go nuts, girlies. Stay safe but enjoy. Honestly I mostly love watching teens flirting with each other at the pool. If the older men at our pool are thinking anything inappropriate, they're doing a good job hiding it and I've never seen anyone behave inappropriately. And of course if they were going to do that, a one piece would not stop them and a thong does not make the wearer responsible for anyone else's actions.

This thread is making me grateful that this is not my hang up. I used to be so stressed about my own body at the pool, and for right now I am not really stressed about anyone's. It is a very happy pool season for me. I really hope I don't start to get irritated by bikinis. I'm already irritated by so much, I don't have room.

This is a nice take (I am the person you are replying to). I think it bothers me in part because I have teens and find the apparent pressure to display so much of your body kind of porn-influenced and icky. Like, c’mon girls! I feel like teens’ lives these days are so extreme and reflect what they see on Insta and these extreme internet influences. But maybe this is just how adults always feel about teens….I’m not sure.

Do you really want your daughters being associated with the images you seen on the internet when boys go surfing for wanking material?

Therein lies the problem.

No that is not the problem. Think again... think, really hard.

It starts with girls are not responsible for boys behavior and it ends with girls are not responsible for boys behavior.

Exactly. We are European and American have such weird hang ups about the physical body. My boys (now men) have never had any issues treating women decently, no matter what the woman is wearing (or not wearing.)
