Does your community pool have a dress code?

OP, I don’t see the difference. Aren’t most wearing skimpy bottoms anyway? Swim bottoms are very hard to fit properly on body types. What is practically a hipster on flat-bottomed me covers only 50% cheek on somebody who has a different shape.

Short shorts, crop tops, and cheeky bathing suits appall her. Since hitting puberty at age 10 she would rather cover it all up.

I try to remind myself it’s so great these kids have such body confidence - but I also find the suits distracting. And I’m not sexualizing anybody - just noticing the girls are nearly naked.

Funny how the men aren’t wearing banana hammocks with their checks hanging out.

Something that struck me as—well I was going to write odd but really it’s just different culture— is that in a lot of European countries “swimming briefs” (like speedos and jammers) are way more common in casual settings. Common amongst all ages.

Like, here in the U.S. it’s a bit odd to see guys wearing those in a situation other than competitive swimming. Not so in Europe.

In fact, in France public pools are required by law to enforce a “swimming briefs only” dress code. No trunks, board shorts, etc. Just swimming briefs allowed. You will get called out on it and forced to purchase a swim briefs on location if you want to continue to swim.

Yeah. France also makes women remove hijab so I’m not thinking they’re the most expansive in interpretations of appropriate dress.

Which pool? Sounds super hot.

Haha, me too! Essential for summer urban pool use.

My pool doesn’t have a dress code. No college kids, but a couple of high schoolers in string bikinis last time I was there. Good for them! I wear a rash guard and board shorts and am entirely focused on making sure my toddler doesn’t drowned and I don’t want anyone policing what makes me happy either.

It’s not only the college-aged crowd wearing thong bottoms at our pool.

Oh do tell, what pool is this?

Thank god we are all too poor at all pool to be on ozempic yet. We are all still in Lands End tankinis.

I think I belong to your pool. Lol

The ozempic poster probably has a pool bag with her yacht name stitched into the side. Lol

Another one. 😎

Some of y’all have raised beautiful young ladies with the confidence to smooth it out, oil it up, and put it on display for community consumption right up to the absolute edge of labial decency and I for one commend you.

NP - If women don’t want to be ogled, they shouldn’t walk around basically naked.

None of us want to sit on chairs where your bare buttocks and nearly bare genitals were pasted moments before.

Who are you to say what is
family appropriate?

Well… let’s see. We have laws against indecent exposure… why don’t you start a community nudist pool, so the market has choice?

I’m a 46 year old who wears cheeky bikinis. I’m not “pretending to be 20.” I’m simply choosing the suit that best suits my body. I do about 500 squats and lunges a week and my butt looks great—no need for a skirted suit here. If people choose look at it, fine; if they turn away in disgust, that’s fine too. I’m just living my life.

I am 100% for giving women citations for being illegally dressed. Let's see how that works out.

It’s hot in the DC area in the summer. It’s a pool.
