This.
Guys.
THIS.

"This" what? You think the TSA conspired with Joe Biden to set up two completely random idiots in Turks & Caicos?

It’s ok to bring bullets in your checked luggage, isn’t it? It’s not TSA’s job to know if that’s allowed on the country you’re traveling to. It’s yours. Personal responsibility.

Hold up.. we can have bullets in our luggage? We can fly with bullets? Seriously?

Bullets are harmless without a gun.

No they are not specially loose rounds.

No that is a myth, this may exceed your intellectual capacity, but here goes... If you are somehow able to set off a loose round the majority of the chemical energy will be expelled into the large environment that contains the loose bullet, like a room or a bag or whatever. The energy will not propel the bullet like you see with a gun. Worst case a burn, very unlikely to ignite the environment, unless extremely flamible. So bottom line- you need the gun.

You really have no experience with ammo. I have seen rounds(specially loose rounds) cook off, fire when the cap hit, go off in the dryer, etc. Guess what? The rounds go through walls, suitcases, dryers, etc.

I guarantee i have more experience than you! And you are an idiot.

NP here and I can personally attest to experiencing a bullet whiz by my face while stoking a campfire at the IWL campground. The fire set off the round and I heard the bullet whistle past my head. No need to argue and be insulting since I am just speaking from experience.

not being insulting - they put ammunition into the dryer. So if they did it on accident then they should not be complaining about a guy that forgot to check his luggage, double standards i guess.

And yeah they will fly, but only a small fraction of the available energy is transferred to the projectile. It will put your eye out if your not careful.

One broke the law and was effectively used a bargaining chip for spies and felons imprisoned in the US. Two broke the laws of Turks and Caicos, a British Overseas Territory. They are not interested in trading, perhaps because they think the law is a sound one.

Many people believe in dumb laws - it is usually a lack of understanding of the consequences.
Safety is a not a sufficient sacrifice for liberty.

Reminder: Russia was holding American hostages while Trump was in office and he didn't do shit.

Paul Whelan was incarcerated in 2018 while Trump was in office. He's still in a Russian prison today.

T&C laws are not dumb. T&C has had a huge outbreak of violent crimes that have been caused by many foreign weapons being transported into the country. To try and stem the violence, they instituted the gun laws. They used to be more lenient. There was a guy who was sentenced to 8 months, and only had time served between when he was incarcerated until his trial and fined $5K. But more and more foreign nationals have been bringing in ammunition that T&C decided that they had to have more serious consequences, so they instituted mandatory minimum sentences, which is where we are.

If people had paid more attention and were more cautious, we likely wouldn't be in this situation.

But Americans really need to pay more attention to foreign laws. Sovereign countries are getting tired of Americans just ignoring their laws an inconveniences. So, you now get to treat foreign laws as inconveniences as significant risk.

FAFO, especiallyl when it is another sovereign entity where they decide their sacrifices for liberty. Looks like what that's happening with those guys.

On another note, if your kids take AP history classes, what are their scores? Why? Because your comments are fairly embarrassing. Hoping for the best for your kids.

I did not say to show up and break laws, just said they have dumb laws. I guess if you like to kiss the ring go for it.

As for kids they are not part of this argument, 1460 on SAT - plenty of AP classes including history. They come from great stock, many graduate degrees in my family. We just choose to live free - has nothing to do with intellect. I typed this slow so you would understand.

More details about some of those detained in T&C. One is facing an upcoming trail (this week) and likely his case will help set precedent for the other 4 cases.

Your TPs are really no different than I hear on Fox News and from some of the HS guys who post on our FB HS class page. That's not a compliment.

You say "dumb law," then "kiss the ring go for it." What does that even mean when it is a sovereign entity? It's a law.

Typing slow means nothing if you what you are typing is a product of being slow.

Stupid to let a MAGA Republican go to a foreign country and insult a sovereign nation.

Reschenthaler probably did more harm to the case against these Americans than help. T&C is not amused by his comments.

Feel.free to live free. When you travel to another country that is not the US, you will face whatever consequences they have for you. Just like those right wingers who moved to Russia, you will find out the hard way.
