Why did Biden work to free Brittney Griner but not these men?

But the vape cartridge was against the law in Russia. Why respect one country’s laws but not another?

Oh are we taking Russia’s word for it?

Sorry are you saying the cartridge is actually not unlawful in Russia? Or that it wasnt actually Griner’s?

If the latter, she has admitted repeatedly that it was hers. Including when she was back here and able to speak freely

State Dept will ask her to maintain a consistent story with what she said in Russian courts in order to protect future American detainees who get arrested in Russia. Two Americans - including an active duty US military soldier - were detained this week.

So no, we will never know the truth about her detainment. I've always believed the Russian government planted it because they knew a wealthy black lesbian athlete would be the perfect foil for stoking the culture wars in the U.S. (and the Russians succeeded).

The guys in T&C will get to leave after a few months of detainment and a massive fine. T&C government is more reliable than Russia.

Exactly. But conservatives love Putin and Russia! Oh and they also dislike Black lesbians.

It’s a certainty that the State Department is working on this case diplomatically, as they did in the Griner case.

What is the theory on why she would have to be consistent with the story she told in Russia? And if it wasn't hers why wasn't that her story in Russia? If it were me and it wasn't mine I would say I have no idea what that is or how it got there.

I saw an interview with the parents of one of them on TV today.

Then you'd still be sitting in a Russian prison. Meanwhile, Griner is back in the U.S. with her family and back to work.

Are you really this naïve? The game is played differently in Russia.

These people aren't hostages. They broke the laws of another country and are being detained accordingly. Is Biden supposed to send in the SEALs?

Identity politics. No more and no less. That’s a big reason (but hardly the only one) why he won’t be re-elected.

Right, because the LGBTQ community will otherwise start voting for Trump (?).

Biden secured the release of the hostage that was offered. Did you expect him to say "nah, keep her - I want that other guy"?

You don't know this. We travel at our own risk. Before traveling to any country read up on their laws. If bringing in bullets is illegal then don't bring them in
I'm happy that Griner was released but she should have checked to see what Russia considered illegal drugs.

You steal a street sign in China then you pay a steep price and forfeit the street sign.

Reminder: Russia was holding American hostages while Trump was in office and he didn't do shit.

This. They probably shouldn't advertise they are working to get these not so bright people freed. Griner has to stay in a Russian prison for quite some time.

How do you know they’re not working on it? Do you think you know everything that goes on in every office?
