| Turks and Caicos is threatening to jail two American men for 12 years for accidentally having bullets in their luggage at the airport. Doesn't seem like something that deserves 12 years. Why is the administration not working to free them? |
| Because it’s Turks & Caicos, not Russia. It is against the law to have firearms or ammunition there. |
But the vape cartridge was against the law in Russia. Why respect one country’s laws but not another? |
| Because he does not care. He may even support the decision. A president who cared could have them out in an hour. |
Oh are we taking Russia’s word for it? |
| There are many hostages in the world. We don’t even hear the names of the Americans held by Hamas. |
We rarely he the names of Americans killed by the IDF |
| They aren't valuable, professional sport ball players that are vital to the US's economic interests. |
| They'll get out eventually. Calm your jets. |
|
Because he’s Joe Biden.
Griner meets the DEI criteria. The white guys do not. |
| Who accidently has bullets in their luggage? Probably more to the story. |
|
T&C is not a hostile nation to the US like Russia is, and Griner is “famous” and these guys are not, Russia could have extorted us by holding her on trumped up spy charges or charges of gay activity, but Griner did them the favor of actually breaking a law.
I know why Biden did it, but I do think there should be a limit as to what we are willing to trade on exchange for our citizens breaking laws abroad. At some point, you start encouraging foreign governments to take hostages. If you’re going to go abroad, you have a responsibility to abide by the local laws. You’re not entitled to the same rights you are here. |
Sorry are you saying the cartridge is actually not unlawful in Russia? Or that it wasnt actually Griner’s? If the latter, she has admitted repeatedly that it was hers. Including when she was back here and able to speak freely |
| If you're careless enough to "accidentally" leave lethal ammunitions in your luggage, then we don't need you in America. |
12 years? Pretty harsh. I sure you’ve never made a mistake. |
