Why are people so judgy and easily offended now?

Then why do people say “biologically female/male” if female and male are already scientific definitive words?

The folks who dislike female don’t like “biological female/male” either. I think the biological is just added for emphasis. Because “woman” has been colonized, “biological woman” is no longer precise.

I think dislike of the word female is just personal preference. Because it is sometimes used derisively by certain types, it's only natural for some women to bristle a bit every time they hear it. B

If op didn't mean for it to sound denigrating, then hopefully it came through in tone and context. Op, just learn from your experiences. Stop saying "female" when "woman" would be more appropriate.

My parents used to say "colored people." They didn't understand why "colored" was a bad word but they stopped using it eventually. We roll with the changes.

You're just screwed no matter what you say.

Don't marriage vows say "to have and to hold?" Has that changed?

Talking down to Lil’ Jon for his use of “females,” is culturally insensitive, and frankly, racist.

They always were. They'd get the vapors if someone had sex.

I find it ironic that half the posts on here are from people being judgy and offended.

My conservative family members told me they are offended when people tell them "happy holidays." I thought they were joking. No, serious. Actually offended.

Those of you who think this is all about liberals have been living under a rock. Let us not forget conservatives who feel as though lgbtq is being "shoved down their throats" because a teacher had a little rainbow flag on the bulletin board. Conservatives who don't want black history taught in schools. Conservatives who believe Christmas is actually being stolen right out from under them.

“Colored people” is horrendously denigrating and atrocious, but “people of color” is wonderful.

Obviously.

As long as we're classifying them...

Yes, but why are things different now? What caused the shift? Do you think it’s a good or bad thing? I feel like in 10-20 years the language that 25 year olds feel is acceptable now will be considered offensive in some other way.

It's always been weird to refer to women as "females", especially when people never refer to men as "males" or say something like "men and females" in a sentence. I remember people being irked by this in the 90s.

But people do refer to men as males. I think of myself as a female. When the context is appropriate, my first thought is to say female.

Male and female are adjectives. If you're referring to male and female human beings, we generally say "man" or "woman". (Or boy/girl if they're children).

And people do often refer to men as men and women as "females". It's done in certain communities deliberately to imply that the women they're referring to are not desirable.

As an African American, "colored" would be ok with me for ADOS people, and Africans can be called "African". I don't like "black" and really hate "Black".
