I remember people being irked by this in the 90s. [/quote] But people do refer to men as males. I think of myself as a female. When the context is appropriate, my first thought is to say female.[/quote] Male and female are adjectives. If you're referring to male and female human beings, we generally say "man" or "woman". (Or boy/girl if they're children). And people do often refer to men as men and women as "females". It's done in certain communities deliberately to imply that the women they're referring to are not desirable. [/quote]
