Do conservatives want to ban transgenderism for the same reasons they want to ban abortion?

This was the rallying cry when they banned gender affirming care in Indiana even though no transgender surgeries were being performed on minors in the state. That’s how you know legislators are lying about their motivations. They banned puberty blockers which some kids need & which reduce suicide and self-harm. But right-wing legislators only wanted to talk about nonexistent surgeries.

Surgery is non-existent? Interesting, I keep hearing about more and more individuals who had gender surgery as minors. Are these people all lying?

And we’ve weaponized the issue politically to stifle any meaningful discussion. It’s a mess and I fear we’re doing great damage to young people.

Agree. This thread is a perfect example, the purpose appears to be to paint anyone who questions what is happening as an extreme Conservative. most anti-trans advocates who I have met in person tend to be centrists Dads.

Please cite the studies that confirm that puberty blockers reduce suicide and self harm. You won’t be able to because none exist. But knock yourself out trying.

After adjustment for temporal trends and potential confounders, we observed 60% lower odds of depression (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 0.40; 95% CI, 0.17-0.95) and 73% lower odds of suicidality (aOR, 0.27; 95% CI, 0.11-0.65) among youths who had initiated PBs or GAHs compared with youths who had not.

Jesse Singal published a ~40 page analysis of this study on Substack in April 2022. Very worth reading. TL;DR the study didn’t prove what it says it did.

I doubt any of the activists posting here have any interest in a real examination of research findings. There is a reason why the European countries are moving away from so-called gender affirming care.

I just looked up this substack article and looked through it. Fascinating. PPs “study” is full of holes. Next?

Please. Surgeries are children are just not that common. Give me a break. Sure you can point to individual cases but this not wide spread and not done without parental consent. It just doesn’t happen and is a massive red herring.

Puberty blockers are certainly more common and I agree with PP, let’s study it in a way where we get good data and try to make the best decisions based on real knowledge and not fear. But we won’t. We’ll just ban everything and not seek actual knowledge.

Look, I personally dislike religious whackos. I don’t care what religion. I think they’re all incredibly dangerous, especially for children. Does that mean we should ban religion? Of course not. Instead - hear me out here, stay with me- parents should make these decisions for their children and I stay out of those decisions that aren’t my children. I just don’t get who the hell any of you think you are to think you have any say in other peoples children. Especially since kids are getting blown to bits on a daily basis and your party has nothing but thoughts and prayers. Yeah that’s effective. Praying… yeah right.

So surgery is happening? I thought it wasn’t happening on minors. Which is it? I’m confused.

Here is the leftist playbook:

1. Deny it is happening.
2. Admit it is happening
3. Declare that it is happening, and it's a good thing
4. Create a catchy name to call anyone who disagrees
5. Rinse, repeat

I don’t know what to tell you. The medical professionals in Indiana who testified swore up and down that gender surgery on minors just wasn’t happening in the state.

Someone is lying and I don’t think it was Franciscan Health.

This thread is discussing so-called gender affirmation and surgical procedures on minors. You are saying it happens all of the time. I thought it didn’t happen at all?

Same thing just happened in TX. Children’s Hospital swears up and down no surgery on minors taking place. Whistleblower employee contacts the great Christopher Rufo with concrete screen shots and other damning evidence of the horrors still going on in those operating rooms, with names, Rufo blows the lid off and AG announces investigation. Web sites go dark. Just like at Vanderbilt.

We will not stop until all of these monsters are tamed.

your point is that gender surgery should only happen outside of Indiana?

Cons are all up in arms because supposedly children are being maimed through surgery to their genitals and they want to ban that. Baby boys get maimed all the time in this country with surgery to their genitalia. Do you disagree with that?

That was my first post here. I’ve never met a child who had gender reassignment surgery. Have you? I tend to think they aren’t happening at all, but I had a moment of being magnanimous. Hey I have an idea. Why don’t we just pray for them? That should solve *everything* right? Why isn’t that working?

I thought you supported “parents rights”? Maybe just let parents figure out what is best for their kids. None of your business

Defense of children is everyone’s business

If conservatives actually cared about the defense of children, they’d stop pushing for putting an AR-15 in the hands of anyone with a pulse.

Your point is that because our country has a gun violence problem, gender surgeries should be happening on minors?
