Screw you. The reason to discuss this is because sexual orientation is not a “choice” but a biological attribute. Too many gay people like me have committed suicide before adulthood because society told them that being gay wasn’t an option.

I know a guy who committed suicide at 27 because he was convinced he was trans and had surgery before 18. He then realized at 21 he was actually a gay man but - surgery was done. Couldn’t live with himself.

....ok, I'm sorry that happened. But was this belief propelled by some specific class or teacher? No. Doubt that.

I think about— respecting people’s names, respecting their pronouns, respecting their right to dress in a manner they find comfortable, keeping your opinions about how god feels about someone else to yourself and not asking about surgical transition. These are the things that were addressed in my federal agency’s “how to deal respectfully with members of the general public” annual video training, which I completed yesterday. You know, the Woke crap the federal government conducted its first training on in 2018. Now we get annual refreshers. Fiscal year 2020 (starting 10/19) brought us updated business writing training on how to write for the general public— with a focus on pronouns and gender.

The federal government is the nations largest employer. So yes, I think kids interviewing for college or entering the workforce need to understand transgenderism and how to write and act appropriately.

Because trust a Republican to think the only issue with transgenderism is who do you have sex with, how often, in what position.

Shouldn’t we be telling these kids that it’s okay to be gay? It’s okay to be same-sex attracted? It’s okay to be gender non-conforming? That those things don’t mean you were born in the wrong body? Any class where they read “I am Jazz” or any other book that presents the idea of being a boy or a girl as a choice rather than a biological reality is telling kids there is something inherently wrong with who they are.

My favorite school board moments is when kids and parents bring in a book checked out from the library and begin to read/show the photos and the mic is cut because ‘they don’t’ allow that kind of stuff in school board meetings

I can’t. DH and I were discussing the R obsession with regulating sex in every way possible the other night. Like, who cares if trans women use the same bathroom I do? And we came to the conclusion that Cons just think about sex more than we do. I’m 48 and cannot recall ever seeing a trans woman in the restroom. And if 1-2% of the population is trans, that means I am regularly crossing paths with them in the restroom. After all, Cons tell you the women’s restroom has been taken over by men in dresses. I just don’t notice/ care.

So, I guess cons try to peep into stalls in a restroom? Go into a stall and pay attention to what the people in the stalls on each side are doing? Can’t relax until they are sure there are no masculine sounds or smells? Stare at other people in line and ponder their genitalia? Cause this is an EMERGENCY folks! The fate of our nation rests on whether the person in the next stall dangles.

I guess con see two men with a toddler and you don’t picture a game of hide and seek, you picture the guys having sex? A kid can’t write a college practice essay about their 2 moms for AP Lang, because all the teacher and other students will think about is what your moms do in bed? And, of course they should not have kids, because all the kids will be able to think about is what the moms do in bed.

It’s like they assume everyone thinks about all sex all the time (like they apparently do). So, they legislate mandatory repression of their out of control sexual obsession. Because going to the bathroom has become this sexually fraught event because there could be penises anywhere! Everywhere! Maybe right in the next stall! Does it sound like penis pee-ing? Meanwhile, the rest of us are like: why doesn’t the Kennedy Center have larger women’s restrooms? The lights are going to give the five m8nute warning any second, hurry up folks.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised Cons have a righ rate of sexual deviancy. In their world, everyone is hyperaware of genitalia and sexuality. They cant allow the straw that will break the camels back.

Do neither of you care about the statistically high rate of suicide and depression among LGBTQ youth? Like, it doesn't bother you at all that almost half of LGBTQ youth have considered suicide? Not even a little? Are gay teens monsters in your eyes?

Shouldn’t we be telling these kids that it’s okay to be gay? It’s okay to be same-sex attracted? It’s okay to be gender non-conforming? That those things don’t mean you were born in the wrong body? That you’re perfect as you are? Why are we telling them they need hormones and surgery? That’s the flat out wrong messaging.

I'm not an expert on this, but I have seen accounts of people who are transgender say that they have always felt like they were born in the wrong body and that they truly feel like they were supposed to be the opposite sex. Just calling themselves gender non conforming doesn't relieve the extreme discomfort they feel. They said that they felt this way when they were very young, before anyone else knew or before they really understood what that meant. I'm sure that's not everyone, but for at least some it is something they always felt even before they had the words for it. It's not like it was a topic of conversation until relatively recently. No one was planting the idea in people's heads back when no one talked about it at all.

I don't agree with anyone pushing kids to transition, to the extent that it may be occurring. But people who truly feel they were supposed to be a different gender probably won't feel any better just being told they're perfect the way they are.

From a psychiatrist who deals with teens/transgenders

A child/young adult who states that they always felt this way when they were young, etc - there are ALWAYS signs because kids that young cannot suppress their feelings and mannerisms. As a parent of a now transgender adult who is on the spectrum and has multiple physical issues that caused him to be relentlessly bullied in the publics, my kid never ever expressed that in mannerisms, behavior, etc. as a young kid. We have multiple medical professionals in the family and all were blindsided as well. Contrast that to another member of the family (not our nuclear) who we knew was probably gay from early childhood, just by mannerisms, etc. That classically feminine behavior could not be suppressed as a two/three year old. The only thing that surprised extended family is that he is a staunch R and a Trump supporter, out and proud. Went to many events on the WH lawn fully out and has never had any issues. Imagine that!
