This is right. The Stars -> CLC connection is not the same as it once was with the sale to StJ. I’m not sure that the BLC -> CLC connection is worth much either. It’s about the players. |
Last year multiple girls turned down CLC O offers. They went to Pride and MCE to be on their A team. I know of several girls who were waitlisted CLC O and eventually got an offer to join the team. |
| I would choose the A team in every case. Whether the A team is amazing or not, the club is going to respect and value the A team more and that will trickle down in every thing. Doesn't matter what clubs we are discussing - choose the A club. Your team may not win every game, but you will get more backing. |
| I wouldn’t choose MCE or Pride A over CLC O. The remaining players on those teams will be much weaker…the best on those teams are accepting offers from CLC B and O. CLC’s reputation goes much further. |
| If CLC keeps taking 50%+ of Pride’s A team every year, Pride should get smart and start carrying 26-27 players, double the fees to $5K-$6K and make parents sign a $10K breakup fee option that is exercised only if their kid leaves and goes to CLC. Maybe this will stop the bleeding. For the last two years now, Pride Black kids have a 50% chance of making Capital Blue. Pretty good odds. |
| Sounds good in theory, but no one would sign up for that. Until Pride can send girls to Top 20 lacrosse and/or academic schools, they will continue to hemorrhage players to Capital plain and simple. That’s why people go to Capital, they want to play at a top University. |
Based on experience I would not recommend this. Pride A is generally much higher ranked than Capital Orange. Capital Orange tends to be ranked in the 70-80 range, which translates into playing much weaker teams. Doesn’t mean you can’t get recruited, but you need to factor this into your recruiting plan. Pride A will play a much better schedule. It’s still too early to say how well Pride will do with recruiting. The club did not handle its 2023 class well but in the last week they have posted several commitments to NESCAC schools and one to USF. They also have several commits to service academies. Pride has a new recruiting director, so it will be interesting to see how they do with their 2024 class. |
The Pride 2025 Black team is #49 ranked. They have lost to several teams the CLC Orange 2025 has beat. The clubs ranked between 40 and 75 can beat each other depending on how the day goes, which players are present the quality of the goalies. So Pride Black is not necessarily better than CLC O. Plus down side to Pride is dealing with the KM crap. CLC placed 90% of its players last year in college programs. No other program places that number of girls at good schools. MCElite, Pride etc have no recruiting pipeline. Plus college coaches dont pick up the phone from KM. |
On the other hand, if you look at the games Pride Black plays versus CLC Orange, it is easy to imagine college coaches being the Pride games against top competition instead of the CLC Orange games that are in lower brackets. Putting wins, losses and rankings aside, if the goal is exposure you may more likely get that exposure with Pride than with CLC Orange. The CLC Orange recruiting is not too much to brag about in any case. |
College coaches are NOT looking at high school lacrosse games/seasons in the DMV UNLESS it is private ( public schools in NY and NJ get college eyeballs). College coaches go to the top tournaments, and see girls at their camps period. Excellent club recruiters and respected staff matter. Public High school records don't matter unless the student is THE star of the show. Being on a winning public high school team doesnt necessarily mean anything to the college coaches. Grades and scores however do matter. |
| The current Pride recruiting director is not working with the 2023s. Every girl on the team who got recruited did so completely on their own with zero support from the club. Time will tell whether they are able to improve their terrible recruiting record and the only thing that's certain is KMG will strip mine your bank account with little in return. |
This is not true. Check the website. Losers focus on winners, winners focus on winning. |
It shows 9 out of 46 girls commits for 2023s. It shows 11 2022s commited. So your point is? |
The Pride website it always out of date. The 23 team now has 13 committed. Nothing great, but an improvement. |
How is it poaching when Pride just started going to high school? Was it poaching when they decided to go through high school to begin with? |
