He got home the next morning around 8 am, looking entirely to pleased with himself. I'm definitely not happy about this, he's had girlfriend's before so I don't think he's a Saint, but i think we're headed for some post graduation conflict

He's my oldest so I'm a bit out of my depth on what to do

Does he think he can support a family?
Perhaps allow him to practice supporting just himself.

Teens have sex. Most don’t get pregnant.

OP, from your post, it is not clear ... what is the exact problem. What, precisely, surprises you?

Would you rather he be an incel?

Are you a man? This is a very weird take on the situation!

He was traveling by metro, which closes at a certain time.

That could be why he spent the night (vs just rolling in very early AM).

I don’t care about the 18 is an adult. They are still young and need the structure from their parents.
I let my DS stay out all the time but he needs to let me know where he will sleep.
It’s more with his friends that are girls and boys.
Not sure how I’d feel about a date. Was it a one night stand?
That I would not like!

Wrong. 18 is an adult. Butt out.

No curfew? So you think no boundaries is the way to go?

DP. An 18-year-old is an adult and does not need boundaries.

I just noticed that the original post is from June 2022!

At least half of teens can’t get pregnant.

Exactly, the grandbaby has already been born!

My 20 y/o DD has an IUD and has declared for many years that she plans to be “childfree.” She is bisexual. I would not be surprised if she were to find a way (on her own) to get a tubal ligation in the near future.

So I’m not worried about becoming a grandma anytime soon.

.....STILL living at home. There are rules at home.

What are you trying to accomplish with pointless rules, like a curfew for an 18 year old? Other than being controlling for the sake of being controlling.

Meh. He’s going to have a lot of sex this upcoming fall, and then come home for the winter. And repeat in the following season.

Do you all forbid your adult sons from having sex with anyone until they're making $500K and have a cool $10m in an IRA?

Know this would not work for all, but to for us worked to encourage launch by: our house, our car, our rules. If not our house, not our car, their choices.
