Yeah. I watched it yesterday. You can find it yourself on Youtube. It was odd, but it was not remotely "incoherent" or rambling. |

PP with the father with Primary Progressive Aphasia. Eventually, as the disease progresses, you become “locked in” - that is you can’t express yourself nor comprehend conversations, nor write. My parent, who was always a sparkling conversationalist with an expansive vocabulary, began to answer direct questions with a simple yes or no. This made my mother very concerned and he was fast tracked for a complete neurological evaluation.
His initial treatment was antidepressants (also diagnosed w depression) and I think a med specifically to attempt to slow the progression and typically for Alzheimer’s patients. Reflecting further, my father had PPA for a full decade and his progression was apparently atypical; for about 3 years, he was able to perform ADL, drive, garden, read. He was by this time becoming progressively quieter. In order, he lost his ability to read and therefore all interest in reading then speech communication became non conversational and he rapidly lost fluency. Then he could only say yes or no and then he went to a rudimentary sign language indicating agreement or disagreement- then soon after became unable to keep these 2 signs straight. He then became mute. Then at about this time had to move to skilled nursing home where he lived out his life. He lost ability to ambulate and became bed bound and this was how he lived for 6 months. Absolutely vile and undignified way to die and horrific to witness. I’ve been since compelled to create a will and medical directive; I’d consider assisted suicide or simply go on a hunger strike should I ever receive a similar diagnosis. |

“The show's co-founders John Wilson and Mo Murphy said in a statement to the New York Post: 'After much thought and consideration, the Razzies have made the decision to rescind the Razzie Award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently disclosed diagnosis.”
From what I assume is the Daily Fail plagiariziation of the LA Times article here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10676199/How-megastar-Bruce-Willis-guided-making-22-movies-three-years-churn-factory.html?ito=social-facebook&fbclid=IwAR0UD4onCvxwIL2r3oUCwv0AQ35WmL3atqh1pmikatkX3-Bq6Ux5R0tWtgU |
| New picture with his daughter so sad still I don’t know why this is affecting me so much it’s because I have this image of him as so strong and cool and funny and he looks so frail and dazed in these photos… |
Oh, bless you for posting that. That episode will live in memory, along with the Taming of the Shrew and the black-and-white one. I had the worst crush on both of them. I ended up a lesbian but even to me Bruce Willis‘s charms were undeniable. I’ll be thinking good thoughts for him and his family tonight. |

This is a DC forum, it's well documented there are many powerful politicians and judges with memory loss diagnoses and alzheimer's / dementia prescriptions. They are also being used and abused by those around them. It happens a lot. |
He’s always been very express. It’s startling. There is a twinkle remaining in some photos, though I suspect they are from last year. Sad as well. |

It has been my experience with similar diagnoses that the person who is afflicted still feels “like themselves” for a long time after symptoms are apparent to others. Straight denial can also be a big factor. I wouldn’t be surprised if he just said yes to all these movies before his loved ones had the ability to stop him. Regular people go through this all the time with travel and driving. I bet everyone who has been a caregiver for someone with cognitive decline has a story about something their loved one believed they could do or were going to do long past the point where they could.
Everyone thinks “oh if I get that diagnosis I’ll just end it” but by the time you get to the diagnosis, it’s not like your now cognition is in there understanding the diagnosis. You’ve become a new and different person. It’s really hard and will be really hard for his family no matter their resources. |
