Same. Loved her book. And love their relationship. So sad.

I’m so sorry about your mom

Me too, first pp. glioblastoma is a devil.

My dad has this. It's terrible. He'll know the word and struggle so hard to get it out but can't.

He can also visually recognize a word but doesn't have the ability to vocalize it. Meaning, he can read perfectly and can even write very well, but he can hardly speak coherently.

It's completely different from dementia and Alzheimer's. It can, however, come before those disorders as a precursor. His stems from a head injury during a minor car accident. A lady side swiped him running late for work and he hit his head fairly hard on the top door frame part. He was, unfortunately, driving an older car without side airbags at the time while his was in the shop. It was a car he and my mom had been saving for my nephew when he turned 16. After it happened, he said he was so thankful that the car was wrecked and they didn't make the mistake of giving it to my nephew.

With Bruce, for someone whose life was speaking, that must be so soul-crushing.

Horrible illness. A family friend died of this. It was horrible to watch the decline.

I wish him and his family the best. I enjoyed his work amd sense of humor through the years.

I know he wasn’t learning lines for films for a while now. He was using an ear piece and having lines fed to him.

Heartbreaking.

I’m glad his blended family is working together to support him. They’re a model of what blended families should do.

Also explains the weird pandemic family set up they had going. Bruce was pictured living with Demi and his adult daughters during Covid in a remote area but not with his second wife and under 8 daughters.
So his youngest kids wouldn’t know what was going on? I wonder how he was able to handle his brief appearance in his movie that was filmed in 2020.

Terribly and I can see why his family his making this public now. He was prolific. They wouldn't want him to diminish his portfolio by struggling in roles or just dropping out.

Bruce Willis — who starred in no less than eight movies in 2021 — has been given his own category at the 42nd annual Razzie Awards. “Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie” is the name of the new category, and the nominations include every single film he starred in last year, including American Siege, Apex, Cosmic Sin, Deadlock, Fortress, Midnight in the Switchgrass, Out of Death, and Survive the Game. Midnight in the Switchgrass was dead last in Vulture’s ranking of straight-to-VOD Bruce Willis films, with our reviewer commenting, “Bruce Willis is a nonessential worker here.”

Honestly I am happy we have an explanation for why his acting was so terrible in recent movies, it felt like he didn’t care but instead was just struggling.

So that begs the question why he did all of those movies last year.
Not clear if he was contracted to do the movies before his symptoms / diagnosis, or if symptoms began and he couldn’t get out of the projects, or if he was symptomatic and still wanted to continue filming for some reason.
Seems unkind to release details about his poor acting now knowing this diagnosis.
The Razzie announcement was in Feb. Perhaps they’ll walk that back now.

Bruce Willis in Moonlighting was my first celebrity crush and I still love him, but he was definitely familiar with the Razzies even when he was perfectly healthy. You can’t be that prolific and not make a bunch of duds. But when he was good it was amazing.

Same, have crushed on him since Moonlighting. I wondered if he made all of those B films recently to stockpile money for his family, knowing he’d need to retire soon due to this condition.

Yup, I crushed on him also in Moonlighting! He was so mischievous and endearing. That grin!

It can be caused by a multitude of things - possibly stroke or TIA. Higher risk of stroke with drug use but who knows...

He was trying to earn as much as he could before he had to stop?

I think that was the deal, yes. He made a contract with a producer to give his name to a bunch of straight-to-video movies in exchange for money, and the producer was aware of his need for specific supports. Both benefitted.

I loved him when I was a kid and Moonlighting came out. Had such a huge crush on him and then loved seeing him on Friends later in his career. I'm so glad he has such loving family who will support and care for him and that Demi is so devoted to him still.
