"This is an extremely difficult time for both the Petito family and the Laundrie family. I understand that a search has been organized for Miss Petito in or near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. On behalf of the Laundrie family, it is our hope that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is re-united with her family. On the advice of counsel, the Laundrie family is remaining in the background at this juncture and will have no further comment."

Full Schmidt/Petito family statement:

The Schmidt and Petito family are going through the worst moments of their lives. Their beautiful twenty-two year old daughter is missing and the one person that can help find Gabby refuses to help.
The Schmidt and Petito family implore Brian to come forward and at least tell us if we are looking in the right area.

At this point, what difference does it really make?

What do you mean what difference? You wouldn't want to recover your child's body and have a proper funeral?

I’m sure it makes a huge difference to the family. Better to know what has happened to her, even if it’s bad news, than to be left wondering forever.

But the point is:

- Brian is handsome
- he is his parents son
- he’s young and has his whole life ahead of him, and

- cooperating with the police won’t bring Miss Petitto back, but it’s almost certain to destroy Brian’s future.

But why does he deserve a future when he cheated her out of hers?

Maybe that's what happened to this woman or maybe something just as dangerous. Youtuber/Instagrammers try to do crazy stupid activities to get more views. If she and he tried to do this and died, its not his fault but he probably didn't want to admit to it either.

Utah is on a roll. A 26-year-old died on a hike over the weekend.

Utah newlywed, 26, is found dead after plunging 200 feet from 'extremely difficult and dangerous' mountain hiking trail near Salt Lake City

Andrew Acuff, a 26-year-old newlywed from Salt Lake City, died Sunday after he reportedly fell while hiking the Wasatch Uintah Ridgeline Trail in the Dromedary Peak area, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

A group of hikers found his body later the same day in a 'steep scree field' hundreds of feet below the summit while they were on the Cottonwood Traverse, near the O'Sullivan Peak, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team.

This is so sad! I feel awful for that poor woman, as well as the man’s family.

BTW - there are on average 5 to 7 deaths per year at the Grand Canyon, including 1 to 3 from falls over cliffs (not to mention over 400 helicopter-rescues, and far more non-helicopter emergency rescues there).

Until this moment I had hoped that the Brock Turner parents of the world were a rarity, I see now that they are not. God help young women out there.

Turner’s father had called on the judge to grant his son probation, saying that he had already paid “a steep price ... for 20 minutes of action”.

After what I read on the 'would you turn your son in for murder' thread, I don't think so.

I JUST came here to post about this, as usually DCUM is ahead of the game!

I initially thought she wanted to cut off contact with her family or start a new life and he was protecting her privacy, but now I completely think he was involved.

Hmm, you don’t say.

North Port, Florida, police confirmed Brian Laundrie's status as a person of interest as authorities continue their search for Gabrielle "Gabby" Petito, who was reported missing by her family over the weekend. The 22-year-old was last known to be in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming in late August when she stopped communicating with her family, police said.

It reflects, in part, the statement by her parents. Why do they have to throw in their how beautiful she is?
