STA vs Wilson Game: Fighting and Drinking

Anonymous
Friday night STA lost their home basketball game against Wilson and the gym erupted into fights and beer throwing. The two day memorial tournament hosted by STA has now been cancelled. What in the world is going on?

By all accounts the Wilson students were totally out of control. Shocking behavior.

Was anyone injured or arrested?

I certainly hope there are some serious repercussions for the Wilson students.

And none of the STA were out of control? Is that what you’re saying?

LOL right? That was my first reaction. Of course they were *total angels* because the subtext of this terrible thread is that white/rich kids from a private school can do no wrong and public school kids are out of control (btw my kid is at a Big 3). OP go get some sensitivity training.

I was there. It was 99% Wilson. STA administrators were everywhere and the STA kids were under control. the Wilson kids were overwhelmingly white. This wasn't a racial thing.

Please spare us your woke nonsense. STA students, while often perpetrators of entitled d-baggery, do not smoke dope and drink beer and yell obscenities at authority figures and start fights IN opponents’ gyms.

Just play the games without fans present.

Teams shouldn’t have to suffer.

Try to see reality of the events based on location. STA kids in their gym will be surrounded by administration and teachers. They're not bring beer and joints. And they're going to be shut down if they get out of line. But you cannot process that because it does not fit the class issues you try to promote. Perhaps one day you can see the forest for the trees and not call everything in a knee-jerk reaction a class/race issue. But likely not.

This. Location is key. No one is saying that STA kids are perfect or don't misbehave, drink beer, or smoke pot - they're teenagers like kids at all these high schools. But undoubtedly most are smart enough to not do that in their school gym. Just like the Wilson kids probably would not have done that in their school gym where teachers and administrators who know their names are watching.

Most kids in most schools — public or private — would not have done this in any school gym.

“Stealing phones.”

That’s a little beyond bad language.

Why are students even allowed to be in the stands? It should just be family members due to covid.
