The other bathrooms are more open (think like at an airport.. you walk left then right, but no doors involved) and easier to hear what's going on inside. The bathroom was also in a secluded part of the school, near the aux gym.

MCPS security failed -- a routine audit would show this is a trouble point for all kinds of crimes.

What the heck were these five security officers doing when this happened? Were they physically in the school?

Have you seen the school...or any high school? The building is huge, and 5 security guards can't cover an entire building.

I know people are outraged (including me), but this was an isolated incident. How many incidents like this have happened at Rockville or at other area schools? This seems to be the first time an older undocumented immigrant has raped a student in the bathroom at an area school, correct? Again: it's horrific. But it's an isolated event...and people need to remember that. Good policy never comes from an isolated event. Such policies tend to create unintended negative consequences.

Not saying the possibility of rape was a reason to switch out of co-ed public to single sex private, but so glad I will never have to worry about my DC in that way--at least while she is at school.

Furthermore, I know this is a hot button issue, but rapes happen in high schools and most times the criminals are US citizens. Just last year, I believe there was a rape reported at the prestigious Sidwell Friends School.

A couple of years ago I read on this board about two kids in MCPS having sex in the stairwell. They were both Hispanic, star the superintendent at the time kept it quiet and swept it under the rug.

Not to mention that a Wootton student killed 2 of his friends and a Clarksburg child killed 2 of his friends a kid with affluenza killed 3 people on River Road.

There were >250 rapes last year, mostly by US citizens ... no a peep about those.

What proof do we have that these perps are actually 18 and 17? Are we just taking their word for it that they were truthful about their birthdays when they enrolled? The point is when Hispanic kids have consensual sex it ends up in the paper, when white kids have sex it is not.

When white boys rape white girls it is not in the paper or on Fox 5 news, but when it is a Hispanic it is. Don't you see that as a problem, that we just brush all the other rapes under the carpet?
