Canadians hating Americans?

So now Canadians think all Americans are evil and in agreement with Trump. If that is the case, Canadians are not very smart.

This is the most simple minded comment. No, Canadians have not formed opinions about Americans based on one speech by Mark Carney.

Trumpers don't realize that everyone else isn't that dumb or gullible. Their new schtick is trying to call everyone else ill informed. It's absurd.

But what's crazy to me is this very xenophobic anger towards random American people, just spewing utterly hateful stuff. I'm not sure what the end goal is here, maybe it's just a form of venting and they dont mean it but frankly it comes off deranged. I dont think the average American feels the same kind of deep seated animosity towards Canadians (or any particular country, for that matter). Has anyone seen this?

They are either paid to do that, or else are mentally unstable people ranting online, which is par for the net.
Average Canadian doesn't even know or care about tariffs.

I'm Canadian. Tarrifs are a huge topic of conversation. Everyone knows about them.

For you. Most people don't obsess about politics.

Are you a Canadian living in Canada? Most people are focused on politics right now. Trump has made it impossible not to.

You need to get off tiktok.

I’ve never used TikTok. I’m middle aged.

They don’t hate all Americans, just the MAGA crowd and Trump and his team.

I know for a fact that Canadian companies with fixed assets in the United States are actively seeking protections to prevent EXPROPRIATION of their assets. I think there is a non-zero chance that the US also attempts to seize natural resource assets within Canada, as in start a physical land war. This is absolute insanity.

Canadians have a very reasonable right to despise every American right now. This isn't like "oh we feel bad because 2% of federal workers are losing their jobs". This is the first and most outward step in an entire destabilization in the Post WWII global order. And US citizens are just shrugging and think it's trump-being-trump on twitter.

Exactly! Now is not the time to feel sorry for ourselves as Americans and call Canadians who are scared for a very good reason "deranged." It's a time to call your reps, protest, speak out against the Trump regime doing what was unthinkable just a few short months ago.

Trump already called Canada the “51 state,” which means he is going to invade Canada with our military!

As a mother of a 16 year old boy, I am very scared that this lunatic is going to institute a draft to fight with one of our biggest allies.

I’m 100% certain your male child is totally unsuitable and incapable of military service, so if I were you, I wouldn’t be worried at all.

I'm sorry you are married to a meat head husband, but insulting a 16 year old child is really beyond the pale. People like you who act like the military is some prestigious place are so tired. And I write this from an overseas base with a whole range of people from enlightened to idiotic military members. Check yourself.

Have you been living under a rock? Trump is treating Canada like an enemy. They're angry! Of course some Canadians are going to hate on the average American; people don't understand nuance and half the country voted for him! I'm sure there are lots of people in the U.S. who support this because he says to.

I don't really care if some Canadian vacations here or not.

It's not just politics it's also economics and most smart people actually try to understand because politics shape the environment we live in and our future options. Market is crashing, WSJ is panicking, anybody with a brain is concerned. Canadians have brains, but yours obv got cooked under that red hat, my condolences!

I can imagine it would go really well if Canada started talking about annexing the US and imposing tariffs first. Canada’s response has been pretty mellow all things considered.

Every news source covered that. Well maybe not Fox since they live in an alternate reality.

Are you really trying Canadian-splain how Canadians feel and know when you are a maga pos? Gfy, you have no clue what Canadians are doing and we are VERY aware of tariffs. It’s not politics, it’s our economy and sovereignty.

I am Canadian and have been on DCUM for a decade. I don’t hate Americans and have many American friends and colleagues. I have transnational research projects with Americans.

I am very angry towards your government and your boss’s daily threats of annexing us as part of your country. We live in big cities, work the same jobs as you, laugh at the same jokes as you (although Canadians are funnier 😛) etc.. However, we do not want to be American. Don’t you hear the daily threats of Canadian annexation in your news feeds? We see them daily.

Canadian's have better candy and hunkier rugged men. It's also colder and they drink more booze.

I never saw anything about this on TikTok. Trump himself is saying this over and over and over again. Perhaps try to stay a little more informed if you're going to try to lecture others.
