| Can we get back to the point of this whole thread? What's going on next year with BP and FCV? |
He is leaving. |
| I can understand the questions about where FCV will practice next year, but it’s a little much to expect BP to inform everyone of his plans for next year (at this point). |
| BP’s next role probably depends on where MP goes if anywhere. Not really successful or highly rated at GMU but this is the key factor. Still doesn’t solve the field issue as STJ is pushing for movement towards Springfield. FCV is trying to figure out how to pull this without losing most of the current players. My popcorn is ready and curious how this plays out. I for one am not sitting around doing nothing and my DD is probably fortunate enough to have options. The extra drive will suck. |
| Just another merger |
What will that be? FCV and vda? |
Stanford player started at BRYC |
|
Fcv and syc ?
Gfr and mclean ? Tsjfcv needs fields nearby. |
| FYI, Lily Yohannes who is now a pro (AJAX) at the age of 15 was developed at BRYC before moving to Europe. She is also a USYNT player. |
She has been in Europe for the past 7 yrs and played all over the place here - BRYC, LMVSC, Loudoun, Joga. Any local club claiming they developed her is full of it. |
Any local club claiming they developed anyone is full of it. That's marketing the marketing plan though. |
These clubs do not develop anyone. It’s all natural talent. |
Best guess is he is gone. As a business, if it were in the plans to retain him or in his plans to stay, something would have or should have come out to inform their customers what their plans are. Especially when it's a national level program and this is the time where people and families are planning for 24/25 season. |
No, sarcasm noted, its a combination of things sure natural ability is one- coordinaton to run, stand on one foot, to kick balls around the house for fun, maneuver around furniture. If your two year old was doing that than I assume you invested lots of money into youth and club soccer, and I'm sure the results are there, all that 10,000 hours stuff see Gladwell, Malcolm. Clubs can showcase your talents, but very few clubs as currently structured have any interest in developing you. Fitting you into their team needs, system, or to feature a singular star player all happens in lieu of your development. Develop you to what? To go pro? To go to college? To be the stud of your intramural team? The model here is broken, clubs are still best platforms, but don't get it twisted that clubs develop any players. Parents wallets, kids ambition and work ethic, and yes some natural ability is necessary too |
I find it odd that soccer people talk a lot about developing players. I don’t hear that in other sports. Basketball, football, people talk about a players individual talents but not which coach or club developed them. Where does this concept of development for soccer come from? |
