What will that be? FCV and vda? |
Stanford player started at BRYC |
|
Fcv and syc ?
Gfr and mclean ? Tsjfcv needs fields nearby. |
| FYI, Lily Yohannes who is now a pro (AJAX) at the age of 15 was developed at BRYC before moving to Europe. She is also a USYNT player. |
She has been in Europe for the past 7 yrs and played all over the place here - BRYC, LMVSC, Loudoun, Joga. Any local club claiming they developed her is full of it. |
Any local club claiming they developed anyone is full of it. That's marketing the marketing plan though. |
These clubs do not develop anyone. It’s all natural talent. |
Best guess is he is gone. As a business, if it were in the plans to retain him or in his plans to stay, something would have or should have come out to inform their customers what their plans are. Especially when it's a national level program and this is the time where people and families are planning for 24/25 season. |
No, sarcasm noted, its a combination of things sure natural ability is one- coordinaton to run, stand on one foot, to kick balls around the house for fun, maneuver around furniture. If your two year old was doing that than I assume you invested lots of money into youth and club soccer, and I'm sure the results are there, all that 10,000 hours stuff see Gladwell, Malcolm. Clubs can showcase your talents, but very few clubs as currently structured have any interest in developing you. Fitting you into their team needs, system, or to feature a singular star player all happens in lieu of your development. Develop you to what? To go pro? To go to college? To be the stud of your intramural team? The model here is broken, clubs are still best platforms, but don't get it twisted that clubs develop any players. Parents wallets, kids ambition and work ethic, and yes some natural ability is necessary too |
I find it odd that soccer people talk a lot about developing players. I don’t hear that in other sports. Basketball, football, people talk about a players individual talents but not which coach or club developed them. Where does this concept of development for soccer come from? |
Soccer in the US has never attracted the most athletic kids. Pretending that it's possible to 'develop' a normal kid into a phenomenal athlete is part of the sales pitch. Anyone watching basketball knows that an AAU team can't teach a kid how to be 6'7 with a 27" vertical |
Not to mention 2 out of the 3 GA coaches left and have not been replaced. |
|
Probably verbiage too. Like when parents hear Virginia DEVELOPMENT Academy. Or when the DA was around and it was the federations DEVELOPMENT Academy.
I know all sports use that term, but its used to exhaustion in soccer and thus gives this false reality that does not exist most of the time here anyways where there is really nothing to develop towards on the girls side. At least there is a path to pro on the boys side with MLS, but there are limitations there too within that product. |
Then why do you believe BP developed anyone? |
Yup. LOTS of unanswered questions with not many answers during a time when current families are deciding whether to remain is a good idea, other clubs are open and beginning to set their staff, ID sessions are right at the doorstep and FCV hasn't even begun their process to fill the next GA age group. Staffing questions, location questions, and I don't expect them to come out and answer them either. FCV's website is probably one of the worst amongst the clubs in the area. They may do well with social media and all of that but their website is awful for information. |
