OP, I don't really judge overweight people, label-less clothes, or regular non-designer bags as long as the style is attractive. Then again, I am not a skinny rich DC chick. I'm well-off and like my designer bags but I still "look up to" some of the thin "put-together" women who are skinnier than me. I am 40 lbs overweight and I wonder all the time if those thin women are happy? Do they feel deprived? Do they dream of food? In my heart sometimes I hope they look at me and are a teeny bit jealous that my hubby likes the extra junk in my trunk and I don't watch every bite I eat and I am happy (despite being overweight!) I think 7/9 17:07 gave a solid response to the OP, but I like this approach with the "I judge" list... I judge really obese people carrying junk food. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt though... "maybe it has a low-cal something in it." or "maybe they're on a serious diet and this is cheat day." But a little voice in my head reminds me this is probably not the case. Similar to 7/10 15:01, I dislike when women wear a dozen cheap gold Walmart rings on their fingers I judge people when I can see their plumber butt crack, booty shorts, when they're wearing track pants and giant t-shirts and look like they haven't showered in days I judge 40-50 year old mothers who dress like their teen daughters. I wonder what their issues are. I dislike Coach, LV, Prada, Gucci etc...logo handbags. Half the time it's not even attractive. Why do you need to carry a bag covered in LOGOs? You know where you got it. Why does the whole rest of the world need to know? Maybe that's a distinction between tacky women and classic women. The need to be flashy about it. |
You know, it does. Thanks. I like the idea of yoga with kids. We too have a dog, though DD does the walking. I could try to steal that. I am also in awe of your working 630-930 at home--that is such a chaotic time here, getting everyone organized and carpooled and lunched and forgotten-homework found. Your DH must be a real help. Mine is kind of sleepwalking at that hour, well intentioned but not so helpful. Anyway, think I need to go buy some stone fruit. |
I am wealthy (at least according to "1 percent" standards and DCUM, although not wealthy compared to many I see on a daily basis) and "normal"-sized but not skinny. I care absolutely nothing about the clothes I wear, as in, I'd be happy walking around in sweatpants every day if I could get away with it (which I can, outside of the office). I'm sure there are plenty of "judgy" moms who think I'm an embarrassment to myself/family/whatever. Frankly, I don't care. I have money I could spend on clothes, and if you love clothes, great; if you don't, why would you waste your money on them? Each of us has our guilty pleasures, I'm sure -- there are plenty of things I waste money on. Clothes, definitely not one of them. I would never post obnoxious comments about other people's clothes, appearance, size, whatever on here. It's pretty stupid, even if you do care about clothes/size. But for those that post the comments ("can you BELIEVE Janey wore sweats to the playground?," I'd fit squarely into the "make fun of me" category). |
You obviously have no style because just because you have something with a logo on it (i.e. a chanel turn lock) certainly does not make you "flashy" or trashy because it s classic style one likes. I hate the printed logo bags but I also do not lump everyone into the "you are flashy and have no class" category. |
Well, there's also a difference between something COVERED in logos and something with one logo on it. At least a bag with one logo isn't so in your face and "look at me! look at my logo bag! You can see it's from [insert designer here]!". PP never said women carrying logo bags are "trashy"... just tacky when compared to classic style of a bag not covered in logos. Big difference there! |
