The week/month thing bugs me a little. Yeah, he's 20 weeks or 5 months. But what about when he's 48 weeks? Does that mean he's 12 months/1 year old? What about week 52? Damn our Gregorian calendar!
I do take him on walks around the neighborhood, but I'm starting to feel a little stir-crazy and I want to take him down the the Mall, museums, etc. It sounds like I have nothing to worry about at this age, so thanks everyone!
I recently began staying at home with our 20 week old DS. We only have one car, which my husband uses to get to work, and we live less than a 5 minute walk from the Columbia Heights metro station. As soon as the weather warms up even the smallest bit, I want to start taking DS out and about. The metro would be the easiest and most convenient way to get around, but I am concerned about germs. DS was a little premature, and seems susceptible to respiratory infections (his first "cold" turned out to be RSV and landed him in the hospital for 5 days), so I have avoided taking him on the metro until now. I was curious about when others started taking their babies on the metro.

Ha ha you're nuts! And I think you know it "deep inside"!

And I guess that "deep inside" everyone knows that Obama has access to a secret government time machine ( ) that he used to travel back to the 1960's and plant a convenient birth announcement. Either that or his parents must have been a couple of nefarious super-villains who really planned ahead, knowing that if they put a fake birth announcement in the Hawaiian newspapers, one day their Kenyan-born son would rise to the presidency for the sole purpose of destroying America.

why wouldnt his grandparents put the announcement in their paper, even if the grandson was born in Kenya?

Why would the announcement say he was born in Hawaii if it wasn't true? Were his grandparents also part of the evil, un-American conspiracy?

We got one of the Crane animal humidifiers (the penguin). Like a PP said, they are super cute. But they don't seem to work too well (at least ours doesn't). We just got a Vornado whole room humidifier which has fan to help the humidity spread, and while it is not cute (maybe you could glue on some googley eyes!) it works great.

Gotta throw my vote in for Mount Pleasant! We moved here six months ago from Dupont Circle, and the difference in amazing! On our move-in day, a bunch of neighbors stopped by just to say hello and to welcome us to the neighborhood. The mixed ages and income levels make for a nice and interesting group of neighbors. Plus there are neighborhood parties, an amazing farmer's market, and a street (Lamont) that really goes all out for Halloween! It's a short walk to the back entrance of the zoo (although the uphill walk back home is a bitch!), and Rock Creek Park is right near by. On the down side, we spend way too much $$$ at Target because it's such a short walk away!
We just bought this Honeywell Cool Touch Energy Smart space heater. Like the name implies, you can't burn yourself on it, and it has other good safety features like an automatic shutoff if it tips over. Plus its on sale right now!

I just can't see a woman getting on a plane in those days to have a baby in a third world country for the fun of it. Like Angelina Jolie.

I think this is probably BS, but FWIW, http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=105764. Note, it's not a long form, and it's not an original, but the birthers seem willing to believe it. I guess Kenya is more credible than Hawaii.

You realize that using WorldNet Daily as your source is akin to using the Weekly World News to write a scientific paper. Give me a break. WND??? Two words... Orly. Taitz.

I was the one who posted the link to the Kenya papers. Just to defend myself, let me note that I was responding to a direct question, that I noted that it was probably BS, and that I noted that even if valid, it was similar to Hawaiian documents that don't satisfy the birthers.

I do not dispute the points you make, but figured I'd leave that to future discussion, which you and 7:51 were good enough to supply.

Understood. I do find it a little scary how many people believe that WND is solid, factual news. There are some crazy things on that site! I guess what it comes down to is that people who are of the opinion that Pres. Obama was not born in the U.S. are not going to be satisfied by any kind of proof that he was, and conversely are happy to jump on any alleged proof of his non-citizenship no matter how out there it is.
So, I definitely understand why people would post anonymously on certain threads (confessions, etc.) and categories (sex and relationship issues, etc.) but why the anonymity on pretty much everything else, right down to the least controversial and blandest posts and threads. I'm genuinely curious about the mindset behind it and I would be interested to hear people's reasons why. The baby is taking an extra long nap this morning, so apparently I have too much time on my hands to wonder about these things.
