My very bad “allergies” was Breakthrough Covid the whole time and I feel horrible about it.

I went to my PCP earlier this week and tested positive for Covid. I had been having persistent “allergies” - sneezing and congestion - enough to be irritating but not debilitating, and went to my doctor to ask about a stronger allergy medication.
It turns out it wasn’t allergies, it was extremely mild covid. I’m vaccinated.

No, this is not good news. Yes, vaccinated people are more likely to get very mild cases. But I had it the WHOLE TIME. Two weeks or so. Who knows how many people I’ve spread it to? I work from home, but I’ve gone out to restaurants, gone over friends houses, I haven’t been staying home. At all. Haven’t heard of any symptomatic cases from friends I’ve contacted yet but I could have infected someone who is not vaccinated or can’t be vaccinated, has young children, or is immunocompromised.

Wear your masks folks.

You were only contagious for the first few days, if at all.

Don't feel bad. And I am sorry. This is crazy.

Why do I have a hard time believing you? If it was true, would you post it so publicly?

+1 I don’t buy it.

YOu do realize this forum is anonymous, and that accidentally going unmasked while being unaware of having COVID is not a crime?

Being so stupid should be though as to not get this fact should be.

It was obvious from the beginning of mask removal that it will be vaccinated people contributing to the spread. They falsely assume that they are not the spreader.

You can reach out to the people you were in close contact with, but honestly, there's only so much you can do protect others.

Immunocompromised people are doing what they can, and it's the job of the parents to protect their children.

Sure, but such a dramatic post? Sounds like our resident, you, and your kids have covid even though all your tests are negative pp. Someone should ask Jeff if this is a troll.

What county do you live in? In MoCo the county has a vaccination rate of 70% of total population and 80% of 12+. I wouldn't worry about it. All your friends are vaccinated. You might give them "a cold" since they're vaccinated.

+1 People have posted much more sensitive information than this. I believe the OP.

NP: absolutely this need to be discussed publicly! This make people more careful and more aware.

But this is why people need to stay home if they are sniffling or coughing. Or at least mask up. OP is not the first person that I’ve heard of who learned their “just allergies” were “just mild Covid”. OP, someone like you visited my dad’s nursing home and infected a resident. Now none of us can visit our loved ones.

I had what I thought were allergies end of May, then spread what I assumed was a cold to my whole vaccinated family. Only after the fact did I think maybe it was breakthrough COVID and I should have tested. I don't know one way or other but I was curious after the fact.

I'm a teacher so was masked all the time except at home.
