My very bad “allergies” was Breakthrough Covid the whole time and I feel horrible about it.

Interesting article, since we're basing our opinions only on unscientific data points, what does this tell us?
Of the 346 fully vaccinated cases, median age was 42, and 87% were men.

It tells us that middle-aged gay men partied in Provincetown on July 4th, assuming that being fully-vaccinated was sufficient to protect them from getting/spreading COVID and, as a result, we now all know that is not (or is no longer) true given the Delta variant. This is one reason why the CDC is advocating a return to indoor masking even among the vaccinated.

Why does it matter that they were gay? Do you think they thought the coronavirus is homophobic?

That is people need to test, even if they think it is allergies.

If I follow your advice I would have to test weekly.

Yes, so?

DP here. Not gonna happen. Thankfully my kids don’t run fevers and the school symptom checker asks about “new symptoms not attributable to another condition.” So I just click no to that. I’m not testing for super mild symptoms because the symptom checker also asks if you have a Covid test pending and saying yes excludes you from school. Lots of reasons not to test for mild symptoms.

You have chronic weekly sick symptoms?

I have a child who has mild allergy symptoms, while on Allegra, at least 6 months of the year. And the whole family is prone to sore throats and sniffles is unknown origins. Indoor allergies most likely but who knows.

Explains why the population was so gender-imbalanced.

They were probably all Trump Supporters!

In Ptown? Not likely.

I believe the OP. Just last week, one of my coworkers had 'allergies', went to the doctor, got tested AND CAME TO WORK for 2 days until the dr called him AT WORK and said positive! Manager said, leave now. Not vaccinated, but to his credit he was masked. No one else got sick and custodian bleached everything. He's been at home with a runny nose and apologized to us all.

WTF? If you are symptomatic you need to stay away from other people or you can spread it. Full stop.

I’m the pp and every minor nasal thing anyone in my family has from here on our is going to be “allergies.” I’m not testing a damn thing unless forced, including for school. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. I’m pro vax and pro mask but enough is enough.

Your ridiculous toddler tantrum is duly noted.

Call it what you want. My kids are at school with yours.

So you've decided to double down on your toddler tantrum. How embarrassing for you.

Did manager make any adjustments to policy after that?

DP. But it is a good example of the thinking we are dealing with, and makes the case for compulsory testing at school if you have symptoms. Can we have that? Please?

I have allergies all year long; it's one reason I wear a mask indoors even though I am vaccinated. I would have no idea if I had Covid or not, unless I had a fever and unusual tiredness.

I literally have a sore throat all spring, every day. Grass and pollen allergies.

The manager didn't know he had been tested. I don't know why he hadn't gotten a rapid one. We're federal so we have those policies.

From the medical perspective, it matters because their immune system is generally weaker to fight off the virus. It is just a risk factor, same as obesity.
