demoralized in MCPS

Youre sick. They discuss issues of demoralization because it's important for teachers safety, well being and security after being gas lighted and abused by managers, politicians, and the public.

Why do people dig these old discussions up?

The forum version of necrophilia...

It’s one teacher who was fired. She is mentally ill. We know who it is, but she has no teacher friends to tell her to stop embarrassing herself.

I guess it harkens back to the issue at hand which is demoralization. It's a culture of depressed thinking and status quo unchallenging. I feel bad for the kids and the adults who have to work there especially in these days with Covid which adds danger to already dangerous environments.

Perhaps, this is just a reflection of some people's lives, but as for MCPS they're doing a great job under some pretty difficult circumstances. Overall they're also constantly striving to benefit the students. They got rid of 2.0 and adopted a vastly better math program. Initiated universal screening for magnets which is far more inclusive and fair than their old system. They're beginning the process of evaluating the boundaries which hasn't happened in 40 years and is long overdue. And to boot they're actually doing much better than I had hoped with DL during this pandemic.

Own it.

Someday--if we all work very hard--we may just be able to get the educational attainment of notorious Blue State areas like Connecticut, Maryland and Northern Virginia up to the uncompromising standards of Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. O! frabjuous day that will be!

That approach to the federal government worked out so well for the US!

The union will give teachers basic protections and tenure rights after 3 years. So to do the math 300 per month times 12 months per year times 3 years equals over 10 thousand dollars. It costs over 10 thousand in order to get basic rights and protections as a teacher. Before that you are paying on a gamble that no one picks on you and targets you as the reason education in america sucks. From my experience it's always the new teachers faults. Until them you do what ever your principals asks no matter if it is good for morale or not and don't question grade inflation.

The unions main purpose is collection of dues, propaganda, generic press releases, covering up the truth, and rubber room internet surfing. They are pure waste and cost way too much to be apathetic in protections of hard-working teachers.

I heard a honk near my house this morning. Is the strike on?

The whole reason teachers only have to work 180 days a year is because they have a strong union. Good for them.

Wrong again. Teachers are under contract for over 190 days a year.
